Hey,
I have found a solution to this problem without sending your phone back and/or paying to get it fixed. Now you can do this on you own personal computer and only takes around 5-10 mins depending on your internet and computer speeds. Ok below are some simple instructions to follow. Please give me a 'Fix ya!' if i helped :)

Instructions:

1. Go to either http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/w580i - to view some information on updating your phone or go to http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/110/61/1231338335/Update_Service_Setup-2.9.1.10.exe - to download the application straight away.

2. Once you have downloaded and installed the program, open it, the program may download program updates and such - this is normal.

3. Once everything is open it will ask you for your language, so in my case, English (United Kingdom) and just follow the on screen instructions, everything basically self explaniary.

Note: This will wipe everything off the PHONES memory, take your memory card out to make sure you dont lose anything off that. If you think this is going to be a waste of time then you're wrong as this fixed my camera problem..

Also note: It will say your phone has the latest software installed, just click continue anyway as this will wipe your phone and install everything again, FIXED! :)

I have the same problem (Application is still running close it and start the camera) from last Week onwards, i went to the sony ericson service station, they told some Part(board) to be replaced and It will take 15days hardly,I dint accepted his comments, Then i worked full fledged on this and i got the solutions,

Solution:1(model:W580i)

*Remove the memory stick and push the air (from mouth)into the Inner camera.After that it will work Fine.

Reason: If Dust in your camera lens, the error will appear, so it is a matter of sensor.

Solution :2

* Observe the problem little closer, and fix it, b'coz you know your mobile very well than the 3rd Person.

Throughout all the mails regarding that error messages using Googles Search

Don't go Mobile service stations without knowing a nature error, because they ready to cheating us. Becareful.......... Freinds

i'm having the same problem, i googled : w580i another application is using - and i found the new updated camdriver software on the first link, which is supposed to solve the issue,.......... but i don't know how to install it! please update the thread if anyone knows a step by step solution, as i can't find a "fs/camera" folder. peace, abz

reset the phone by removing the battery while it's on to free up space on the phone memory

You can unlock it and use it. Check to what network this mobile is locked to and then you can unlock it from any site. www.prounlocking.com provides these unlocking services. You can use the phone once it is unlocked.

check your mms settings,ask your service provider to send you correct settings

Sony ericsson w850 is an amazing phone. you just said, it was dead. Sony ericsson phones mostly have battery problems. so check your battery. change it with your friend's one (if he have sony ericsson mobile). If it worked, buy yourself a new battery.

I like to give you a trick. I saw some sony ericsson phones work without a battery inside when you connect the charger and charge up without a battery.
Try this trick too. If it works, buy a new battery.

If your battery is ok, then it might be an IC problem or software problem which can be repaired only by service men for a nominal charge..

The signature works differently ,type the message and in the advanced options use the add signature to insert your signature.By adding your signature message will be send as picture message ie mms message not as text message.

it sounds as if the flex cable is faulty. this part connects the screen to the main board.

You need to replace your flex cable. Average repair cost is $30.

I have had this problem all you have to do is remove and re-insert the battery

Menu, Settings, Right into Sounds & Alerts, Ringtone, Select

All you have to do is restart the phone

turn off the phone and restart.if the problem still in,do a software update.All the necessory softwares can be found on sonyericsson's official site.

hi i have sony ericsson C903 and this ''locked by another application cannot access contact now'' happens after i finish skype application. to be able to acces contacts again i have to take the battery out and sim as well and wait 30 sec before putting it back. annoying

there can be problem of the so called strip. if the light comes by silding up and down so you can fix that by changing that strip. if not comes in any way so may be light ic problem if its strip problem i can show you video how to change the strip if you like to
