I noticed a "clicking" sound every couple minutes

It sounds like the clicking sound is the compressor trying to start. The clicking is the starter relay kicking in. The relay is under the plastic cap on the compressor under the fridge. The compressor is rounded on top flat on the bottom with the plastic cap on top of it and its black. If you take the cap off the starter relay is connected to one of the 3 prongs on the compressor replace it if this doesnt fix the problem your compressor is locked up and sorry but this means time for a new fridge. good luck I hate to give bad news..

REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER STOPPED WORKING.

replace the ptc overload relay on the compressor body,it merely unplugs and a new replacement plugs in,available from any appliance parts distributor, they get weak and will not stay "latched" to keep the compressor powered due to high heat and current draw after so long

The digital temp controller, in

The digital display power is wired through the door switch, so it is intentional that it shuts off when the door is closed. If the display only intermittently comes on when the door is opened I would suspect a defective door light switch. Or if you are lightly touching the light switch and the display come on and goes off I would still suspect a defective light switch.
Prior to purchasing any parts, you should drop your control housing and inspect the wires that connect to the switch and control board. You can access the compartment with a thin flat blade screw driver. Insert the screw driver between the refrigerator liner and the control housing and very gently pry downwards on the housing. You will have to pry to the point that you think you are about to break the plastic and it will pop the locking tabs from the ceiling of the fridge. Start in the front right or left hand corners and work your way across the front first then when the gab is opened pull the side tabs free. There are two large tabs in the back that hold the back of the housing in place.
To make life easier you can un-plug the one large wire connector in the center of the control housing and remove the entire housing for examination.
The light switch part number is C3680310 (@ $10)
The control board part number is
12868513 (@ $120)
Hope this helps you out!
Let me know if you have any further questions!!

Freezer still cold. Fridge is not.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Also
The evaporator coil behind the cover on the back wall inside the freezer will ice up under normal conditions. Every 8 to 10 hours for around 20 minutes the defrost timer (or in most newer models the electronic adaptive defrost control) will turn the defrost heater on to melt the built up ice. There is a defrost thermostat which prevents the heater from overheating the freezer by breaking the heater circuit when the temp reaches close to 32 degrees F. The entire cooling system shuts off during the defrost cycle and starts back when the timer advances through the cycle.

If this ice is not melted it will continue to build up until the air can’t flow over the coil to circulate the cold air through the freezer and into the fridge. The temperature change in the fridge is usually noticed first followed by the freezer.

If the defrost thermostat is bad it can prevent the heater from coming on OR it won’t turn the heater off when it gets too warm. It is clamped to the evaporator coil at the top to sense the temp. If it appears to be misshapen it is bad.
With an ohm meter it should show continuity when cold and none when warm.
You can also bypass the thermostat to see if the heater comes on then. If it does then you know the thermostat is bad and needs replaced.

The defrost heater is located on the evaporator. It is in a tube which is at the bottom and can also go up the sides of the evaporator. On some types you can see a burnt spot if it’s bad. With an ohm meter it should show continuity from end to end when disconnected from the wiring in the freezer. You can also test the wiring for voltage when it’s in the defrost mode.

If you have a defrost timer you can test it. It can be located under the fridge behind the kick panel on the front. Some are in the fridge with the controls at the top. You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer because that means the timer is not running. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

If you have an adaptive defrost control instead of a timer, replace it if the heater and thermostat test good. It is located in the fridge with the controls in some models and on the back in others.

If you need help finding your model number see here> http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

To locate your timer, motherboard, control or adaptive defrost control , enter your model number and search for the part or post back on Fixya.

Fridge not working

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on.

Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these:

  • Wiring

  • Thermostat

  • Defrost timer

  • Compressor

  • Overload and/or relay

If you are unable to troubleshoot the problem from here, you may need to contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Amana ARB1917CSR 18.5 Cu. Ft. Plus Refrigerator. What is the HP of my compressor, which Supco relay and run capacitor?

What tends to happen is that service techs have certain common generic parts in their van, and rather than ordering a part to fit and have a return visit, they fit what they have. Parts seem to be readily available. The compressor is listed but no HP Specs. The bottom show another model and that R134A (1/4HP) is different to R134 (1/5 HP). https://www.google.com/search?q=amana+arb1917csr+parts+diagram https://www.google.com/search?q=Tecumseh+TP122AR003B8 ..

Possible cause of Amana refrigerator making a constant clicking/noise?

Sharla, It could possibly be the ice maker rod that tells the ice maker whether it's full or not. If it's in the down position it wants to make ice and it'll make a clicking noise. Lift the rod up if it's down. Hopefully this helps!? Best to you.

Afd2535des not cooling in any department, when I opened the doors, the lights work and the led temp control lights up. I hear a fan start and 5 seconds later the fan stops n leds shut off.

  1. Check the thermostat: Make sure the thermostat is set to a temperature that is low enough to cool the refrigerator. If the thermostat is not working properly, it may need to be replaced.
  2. Check the condenser coils: The condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator should be clean and free of dust and debris. If the coils are dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. Use a vacuum cleaner or a brush to clean the coils.
  3. Check the fan motor: If the fan motor is not running, the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. Check if the fan motor is receiving power and if it's spinning freely. If the fan motor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
  4. Check the start relay: The start relay helps the compressor start up. If the start relay is faulty, the compressor may not start and the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. If the start relay is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
  5. Check the compressor: If the compressor is not working, the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. Check if the compressor is receiving power and if it's running. If the compressor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.

No power to Amana ice and water dispenser. Rest of refer runs fine.

It's possible that the issue could be with a micro switch located on the ice maker cabinet that is activated when the prong on the back of the ice/auger tray is inserted. It's also possible that there could be another issue with the dispenser, such as a problem with the wiring or a malfunctioning component. I would recommend checking the wiring and testing any other micro switches or components that are related to the dispenser to see if they are functioning properly. If you are unsure how to do this, I would recommend consulting the user manual or contacting a qualified technician for further assistance.
