I have an ATT modem/router

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. First can you please check if the wireless switch of your laptop is on? Can you please also check if your laptop can detect the wireless router? You can click on Start then Connect to and look for your Network Name or the name of the network, usually the name is 2wireXXX. Please provide me the information needed so that we can fix the issue.
Thanks

I forgot my user name

In case you have forgotten the password of your router, there is no way to recover it back.
ALL YOU CAN DO IS TO RESET THE ROUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS
You may reset router to factory settings by pressing the reset button on the back side of the router. Press the button for a few seconds, the lights on the front would blink and the router would restart with factory settings. Please note that ALL SETTING WOULD BE LOST...AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAKE ALL NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS AND SETTINGS ALL OVER AGAIN

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Router stopped working after futsed

Do a manual reset. Find the reset button. Hold it down for 30 seconds. then unplug the power while still holding the reset button down. count another 30 seconds then plug it in and count another 30 seconds, all while holding the reset button down.
This should for sure reset the unit. You should now be able to log in under all the defaults and try configuring it again.

Wireless not working

If you can detect the wireless network but you cannot connect to it, check the following:

1. Be sure that you are typing the correct network key (WEP, WPA-PSK).
2. If the wireless is unsecured, but still you can't connect to it, try to change the wireless channel.
3. Try to power cycle the router (disconnect the power cord from the wall socket for 5 minutes, then plug it back in).
4. Reboot the computer and try to turn off / on the WiFi of your laptop.
5. Reconfigure the router's wireless settings.
6. If same problem occur, contact the manufacturer and have them upgrade the firmware of your router.

If you cannot detect the wireless network, try the following:

1. Power cycle the router for 5 minutes.
2. Reboot the computer and try to turn off / on the WiFi of your laptop.
3. Change the angle of the router's antenna.
4. Change the wireless channel.
5. Reconfigure the router's wireless settings.
6. Upgrade the firmware of your router.

If nothing happens, then the router could be defective. Contact the manufacturer for RMA.

Good luck!
