You could have an issue with lint that has accumulated surrounding the heat element, motor, etc., or there may be some faulty wiring. Contact an appliance service company.

Want to switch electrical cord on a whirl pool

In most all cases, the 4 prong plug has to lines of power, one line neutral, and finally a ground. The only thing you can do is eliminate the ground. You still need to run a ground wire from the unit to some sort of positive ground for safety reasons. Do not leave the unit ungrounded. You can really get hurt or worse.

Dryer will not heat up

hello. If your dryer doesn't heat, check these: Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected. Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Clothes dryer makes a ''thumping'' sound

One of your rollers has a flat spot in it or something stuck to it. Every time it rolls round to that spot the drum jumps over the little speed bump in the road. The wheel needs to be replaced. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

We have a new dryer that does not get hot

Probably a wiring problem. I would suggest getting someone familiar with dryers to look at the wiring of your machine. Or if it's under warranty you could take it up with whoever sold you the machine.

My whirlpool dryer will not start when I hit the

This sounds like it is a bad control board. But try resetting the system. To do this just unplug the dryer from the wall for 15 minutes. Plug it back in and see what happens. If nothing happens then you have a bad control board.

the other thing that you can check is for a bad fuse. You will need to remove the back panel where the power cord goes into the back of the dryer, there you will see a control board with a fuse. Make sure that is not blown.

I smell a burning smell from the dryer

Yes it could have been the lint igniting in the bottom of your dryer in future clean lint trap after every load and take trap door out and vacumn inside trap at least once a month If you ignore the lint trap you could end up with a serious fire so take care of it when you remove screen a certain amnt of the lint falls down into the bottom of dryer and after time a buildup can ignite.. more serious with a gas dryer as the igniter and burner is at the bottom of most gas dryers

My Whirlpool Duet dryer motor

Hi, I think you nailed it with the bad moytor winding assesment.
Often times when the motor goes bad it will move justa bit but basically it is trying to run both ways at the same time, so it hums till the thermal overload cuts it off.
You already have the motor out so changing it will be no problem for you.
Here is the best way that I have found to get parts.
You can find parts for your unit by doing a search for “appliance parts”.
Once you get the results of the search, pick a site and when it comes up it will usually ask for the model number of your unit.
Enter your model number and you will then get a page with exploded views and a parts menu.
Find the part you need and then order it.
Check a few different sites to be sure that you are getting the best pricing.
Most sites can have the part to you in a couple of days.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

My Whirlpool GEW9200L dryer is not drying well. It

I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the washer or dryer ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and found that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video made it possible for me to do my own repair. If you are repairing a dryer or a front load washer I suggest you
go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on both washers and dryers as well as other appliances. If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart this video is an early christmas present. I was so impressed with it that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about it. If you look at the back of your washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video is just what you need. You can see it at www.acmehowto.com You will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. After viewing the video or if you have a v-belt drive rather than a direct drive, I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair nformation on most
washers and dryers. I think you'll find what you need
there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever
go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

24 in washer/dryer dryer noise as going around

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps
