Speakers will not work on
The system requirements for this are:
1 GHz, minimum, Pentium processor or equivalent
256 MB RAM, minimum
Microsoft Windows XP or later, or Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later
Is you OS Mac OSX 10.6.6? If so then it seems that yo have a more recent version of Mac OSX so it's not that.
Have you tried any other speakers in your iMac, do they work? If they don't then it may be that your audio port on your iMac is faulty.
You can view the setup manual to guide you with the connecting up of the wires, you can see it here. It might just be a loose connection.
I also suggest trying it in another system to check that it works properly just in case.

This may sound obvious and you might have checked this already, but check all of your mute keys. If the speaker's volume control is down, that's one. If there's one on your keyboard you could accidentally hit, that's one. If the sound properties on your computer insist sound is coming out, try a different set of speakers, or try the speakers on a different device like an iPod. Get back to us if you still have problems. Hope this helps =]
