Trouble hooking up sony components..Bravia, Home theatre, blu-ray

Got your post, I will work with the model #s. Get back with you soon. Also a tip for now: HDMI carries true digital video and audio so you may not need the optic cables.

Sony Bravia KDL 46", no picture, standby light blinks 4 times

Since the TV is still receiving power, the problem is going to be with the TV's mainboard.  After you unplugged the TV and plugged it back in, you said the power light went out again, so I assume the standby light wasn't flashing again?  The flashing standby light is indicating an error code so my suggestion is to contact Sony for service options regardless if there is a warranty or not because service is the only solution to this situation.  Don't forget to provide them the error code or 4 flashes repeating.

HI there! I have a

The HDMI audio can be sent through HDMI in the digital format or in anlog format through analog cable such as the anolog PC audio line in on the TV (it should be labeled with PC AUDIO in).
On the receiving end, in this case it is your TV, you have to set up your TV in the HDMI set up so that it will look for digital audio signal from the HDMI input instead of the analoag audio input port.
The same for the sender unit (your PC), you need to verify that it is sending the digital audio through the HDMI cable or through the analog audio output port, in your case, the MAC may already defult to digital audio through HDMI port.
Please read your TV manual for more details.

Small black box in upper left corner of Sony TV - need to remove

I had a similar problem on my Toshiba Regza but trying my fix couldn't hurt. I use a satellite dish for TV (if you do the same this might work)... I turned off my receiver, took the programming card out, cleaned it with my shirt (especially the part that looks like a computer chip), put it back in the receiver, turned it back on and when everything reinitialized the black rectangle was gone.

Hope this helps.

I have a sony kdl-46s2000

If it's not the t-con board, There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both - but in your case, most likely the power supply.
Any caps in these (or any) sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l0AUj8QUkg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7b_nTaZYcU&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

My Sony LCD TV Model KDL-46VL150 will go to

Hi,

This isn't good. A 6 flash shut down means there is a problem with the backlights inside the panel. This TV was initially introduced in Oct 2009. If you might have bought the TV within last year or so, try to call Sony and check, if they would repair this without any fee unless this would be an expensive repair. This is really common problem on this set and reported many times.

BAD NEWS - Even though it is a problem with backlight inside the panel, it cannot be replaced alone. The complete panel has to be replaced.

The only option i could suggest is to contact Sony and urge for repair. You need to tell them that you are aware that this is a common problem on this set and there is a probability they could repair the TV and charge you only for parts. This is the only possible resolution. I always urge all the people who bought these technologies to buy extended warranties to avoid these situations.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
