Hello SANKARANARAYANAN,
There is
NO SUCH THING as opening a lead acid battery
without risk. Aside from the
EXPLOSIVE nature of the HYDROGEN off-gassing... the ACID can quickly destroy eyes, skin, clothes... rooms, walls carpets... (bend car hoods).
If you don't know the FUNDAMENTAL chemistry rule:
always add acid... (study up... FAST)
You had better start weighing the cost benefit of your project (today I read a Citi-Card "benefit" that 2
eyes were compensated at $125k... ($62.5k for one... I'd rather
NOT: not for sale)).
If you must work on CAUSTIC materials... in depth knowledge of NEUTRALIZING AGENTS, TRAUMATIC MEDICAL SERVICE and well
rehearsed counter-measures are vital...
Plenty of clean water must be IMMEDIATELY available... and it must be considered that once your face & body are immersed in incredible pain that RATIONAL BEHAVIOR might be difficult to attain... Like FIRE: everybody know...
STOP, DROP & ROLL
It's just incredibly hard to remember when you are on fire.
There is no
STOP, DROP & ROLL for ACID BURNS...
A lot more thought, neutralizing agents .. water.. etc.,
(where did I put that baking soda.. and why can't I see the door)
((oh yeah... water hose is outside... how to get there (blind))).
Getting the idea yet...??
It is best to be supervised.
I've BEEN there (minding my own business in next OFFICE) when a
small LEAD/ACID battery blew up... It is not fun.
(and that was just because it was LOW ON "
water")
