I have a flashing red and green light next to the power light at the top right hand where the screen is joined to the body. The one that is flashing is the battery icon with danger sign inside it. It flashes when it is plugged in and when it is running on battery. When I switch it off and it is still plugged in it continues to flash. However, if I take the adapter out of the computer it stops flashing. What is it and how can I resolve it? Thanks in advance! Aileen
seems your battery cell is the one having that issue. try replacing the battery or plug the laptop and let it recharge the battery to full.,

The wireless adaptor was working fine and now it doesnt show up in the device manager and also i am not able to view any of the wireless networks. I guess its a hardware problem.
Please help
Hi,
Check if the wireless switch is present or not present.
Manually Enable the Wireless Adapter if present
Check the side of the notebook computer for a sliding switch.
Wireless Switch in the On Position
First you turn off the system flip it upside down then locate the battery and take the battery out and make sure you disconnect the ac adapter,.

Click on this link this will help you to locate the Wireless Mini-Card and try to take it out from the system and reseat it back then turn on your system u will find the sytem will automatically detect the device and will resolve the issue.
let me know if i would have been a help or not

MY LAPTOP RUNS OK OFF THE MAINS SO AM ASSUMING MY CHARGER INTO THE MACHINE IS GOOD BUT WONT CHARGE THE BATTERY BOUGHT ANOTHER NEW BATTERY STILL THE SAME CAN ANYONE HELP
CHEERS
The battery has 5 small dots in it. Those are there for no reason. Those are actually LED lights. There's a button you can press. If we number the lights 1-2-3-4-5 with 1 being closest to the button, check the lights when you press the button. If 1-3-5 are lit, that means that you have a dead battery and needs to be replaced. Other than that, you're battery might still be working but nearing the end of its life. Goto support.dell.com -> drivers and downloads -> enter your service tag or system type -> download Dell Quickset. Once Quickset is installed, it will diagnose your battery automatically and let you know if your battery already needs a replacement. It is just sad that batteries are covered with a separate 1-year warranty only. You can also go to www.dellbatteryprogram.com and check if your battery was part of the Dell Battery Recall Program.

hi
i wanted to install windows xp but it show messeges after diagnosing the code error is 0146 and 0148
Both of these are hard drive errors. Error 0146 is a failed hard drive or bad drive sector, and 0148 is that thew machine is no longer detecting the hard drive. Basically, your hard drive has failed and will need replaced. Replace the hard drive and you will be set. The best place I've found to buy hard drives is at pricewatch.com, they have the best prices on the market.

The problem occured after I tried to image restore to factory settings by
ctrl+f11, the restore seemed to be working it was like loading with the % done and stuff so I went out to watch tv and wait for it to complete, but when I came back it said "the system restore was NOT successful" do not manually shut down click here to reboot
then after i reboot, the first screen with the huge dell and the loading bar, the next screen says: loading PBR for descriptor 2... done
then it says "A disk read error occured" press ctrl alt del to restart
then when i try to do ctrl+f11 again, this time it just skipped to saying the system restore was not successful without seeing the percentage bars and stuff
and i do not have the xp recovery disk with me so i duno what to do for now
Boot to the Diagnistics FN+POWER at boot, run hard drive diagnostics. The PBR Descriptor 2 message is part of the normal boot process (directing the boot loader to Primary Boot Recond 2, the C: Drive) but usually flashes on an off so fast most people never notice it. Since the boot process is not going past the re-direct it is indicative of a bad hdd (Since the re-image process crashed)
Most likely you are looking at a hard drive replacement.
Regardless you are going to need an XP CD (you'll have to reinstall windows or run recovery console at a minimum)

I have a dell inspiron 1520 when I turn it on it gives me NTLDR is missing message when I run a diagnosis it gives me error code 2000-0146, I know it is a hard drive issue but I want to fix it tempoerarly so I can download my data.
I had the same problem and came across this solution that worked for me as well:
Re: windows Vista will not start
18 Aug 2009 07:28PM
I was getting a the same error codes and couldn't get Windows to boot up at all. I went to BIOS set up (restart your computer and hit F12 when the BIOS screen comes up), went to onboard devices and changed the SATA Operations from ACHSI (don't know how it got there) to the factory default setting ATA. Then I started up in "repair mode" (which was an option that was coming up when I tried to boot up before but never worked) - it went through a repair check and went to login screen.
Prior to finding this - I tried several things including start up from the Reinstallation disc, but nothing worked. I was ready to buy a new hard drive, but don't have to. Works fine!
Not sure what caused the problem to start with. It is an "Inspiron 1520"

"The radio of your wireless adapter is not currently turned on. Please press the Cancel button and turn the adapter's radio on."
I press cancel.
I check the "Enable Radio" box in the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility.
I press "Apply."
I get the error -- "The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is still disabled. Slide the Wireless ON/OFF switch to enable it or press Fn-F2 to enable it."
Pressing FN-F2 does not fix the problem, and I don't think there is a manual switch.
Suggestions?
I had the exact same problem and went through the same steps that he did. It was only when I searched for a physical wireless switch (on the left side of my Dell D630) that the problem was solved. I didn't even know it was there and must have inadvertently knocked into the off position.

dell error code 2000-0146
If you Google "dell error code 2000-0146" you will get several possible solutions. It appears that your laptop cannot detect or communicate with your hard disk drive.
