I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... HI. This will be a basic logic chip fault. It could possibly be solved by simply preforming a hard reset. You can do this by shutting down the power to the unit for five minutes. This shutdown will force the logic sector of your electronic control board to reset its programming. Once the five minutes are up, reintroduce power to the unit and try to initiate a normal cycle. If the disruptions continue after the hard reset, it will be necessary to replace the electronic control board.

Electronic Control Board Part number will be 99003431

Thank You for using FixYa. To start with check the pump and try to clean it out, then check drain hose for any obstruction. Also check for a bad bearing on the spray arm. If still the issue is not resolved then it’s the motor that makes the noise you hear. The motor has bearings in it which may become worn or get rusty. When the bearings get worn, they allow the shaft to wobble which can get quite loud. If there is a spin seal leak, water may get inside the motor, washing the bearing grease away. If the spin seal is leaking, you’ll notice water leaking from under the dishwasher. There is also a disc attached to the top of the motor called a slinger. It sometimes breaks off and spins around the motor's shaft while it turns, causing some noises. You will need to replace the motor if the bearings are bad. You also need to replace the motor if the slinger is broken as well. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

I had no lights on my control panel, eventhough power was good.
I replaced the control panel ($265 part), it worked for 2 weeks, then I now have the same problem.
Frustrated, I am probably going to buy new from a different manufacturer.
Whirlpool/maytag does not warranty electronic parts if you do it yourself.

Thanks for using FixYa. This issue can be either due to a faulty door latch or door lock switch which is not engaging itself. And, if the door latch will not engage the dishwasher will sense it as open door and will not start the cycle. If the door latch and switch seems to be working fine then it seems to be an issue with the control panel that has gone bad and should be replaced. I have the same problem but now on all cycles - to get it off normal and try the other ones, open the door, hold down the 'normal' button for three seconds, and then at least try the other settings temporarily.

make sure that the you let the hot water run for 2-3 min to make sure it is hot going into machine or it will not break down the soap.if the dispenser is opening then it is a tempproblem. let me know if my assistance was any help with a 4 thumbs up post

This is a locking feature for the keypad. Hold in the button for 3 seconds and If all is ok with the machine the panel will become active.

I know this sounds silly but, check the level of the dishwasher, if the door does not shut exactly right with it level my lights wont work, I can move it slightly to the side and forward (leveling it up) and bingo I have power and lights.
