LG LMV1650ST Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
I have a lg lmv
Hello,
if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.
This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.
To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.
Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.
I wish you the best of luck.
Take care.......
I have an LG LMV1650ST, the heat stopped working
Look, i dont like to tell a non tech how to repair thir own microwaves as there are dangerous voltages sitting there that havent discharged.Step 1, if the magnatron goes faulty, it normally makes a loud growling sound and blows the fuses. So hopefully it isnt faulty. Most of the time i find the HVdiode damaged and to be safe, i replace the 1 micrifarad capacitor.as well. Before you replace that even, normally there is a single fusible wire that runs from the transformer to the cap. If that fuse is blown, have it replaced. Ask a friend who has a little electrical knowlege to help you please.
Where is the LG microwave fuse located
Hi,
Sorry to hear your having problems with your microwave.
There are more than one fuse so the idea is to find which one [ if any] are bad / good.
Turn the unit upside down and remove all screws holding the cover on.
Look for the fuses that will very close to this diagram if not exactly. Just do not short out the transformer even unplugged for days this can give you a nasty shock and more.
Here you go and best of luck

You can ordre separate parts for the door or the whole door.
In searching for the service manual for this model, LG points us to the manual for model LMV1645 (
here), so while it will be useful in disassembly and repair, I would contact Encompass
here or call them toll-free at

Hi, \r\nI have a LG
Hi,
There could be 3 Reasons for the ' No Heat ' situation in
Ovens :-
1. Magnetron - This is an Expensive Part and most common
Fault in GE Microwave Ovens.
Procedure to Test Magnetron

2.
It would be High Voltage Diode.

3.
It would be High Voltage Capacitor.

The
Last 2 would be Inexpensive to Fix.
Note - It is always better
to check HV Diode and HV Capacitor before you replace Magnetron.
Let
me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks
for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

15A & 20A ceramic
fuses can be had locally in most
grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box
or department stores.
Your fuse can be tested with a test light, continuity tester, multimeter, etc.
You should also check the thermal cutout / thermostat on the magnetron in your oven is truly dead.

Everything works ok except strange hum and no heat
When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.
If it is under warranty you are golden. If not, you should get an estimate, as many new microwaves are now in the 50 dollar to 99 dollar range
No heat
Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.
The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven.
Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace
the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.
There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the
magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper
electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have
to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly
lengthy process however.

Door
This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.
Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.
Switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

DEAD
Make sure unit is not plugged in. Use a Volt-Ohm Meter, on Ohms setting, and see if you have connection to the fuse holder. Put one meter lead on the BLACK ac wire, test the ac plug with the other lead (both sides) One should read. Do the same with the WHITE ac wire. One should read.If you get readings on both sides then AC Cord is good. Next check the fuse holder for signs of heat or dis-coloration. If found replace fuse holder. Always remember just because a fuse looks good does not mean it is good, and also I have replaced a fuse with a NEW bad fuse. It happens. To be sure test with meter.
Fan is always on when microwave is working
All microwaves have an internal fan. Generally, they work whenever the unit is heating. There may be a second 'overload' fan...that may be what they are referring to. If this is an over-range unit, these items have special sensors related to heat from the stove. My advice: don't mess with it if it is doing whatever else you want.
