Computers has power but will not turn on

First the obvious, monitor is on? Cables are connected securely to back of monitor and PC? Power cable/power adapter are all connected and plugged in? If a power adapter is used, it will feel warm.
.
I am assuming it was working on some point and then stopped.

If you are getting power to monitor and it's power light is on, then I'd suggest a problem with the video output on PC

If you are not getting power to monitor or it's light is not on, the problem is with the monitor. It may have gone out on you. Try attaching to another computer.

The drawer for CD/DVD on my T6528 will not open

Hi Grandma Patti,

To test the theory of bad drivers follow this instruction >>>>>>

Right click on My Computer and select Manage from the sub menu.
A computer management window will pop up so select Device Manager from the list on the left hand side.
A device list will populate. Look in the list for DVD/CD ROM drives and click on the + icon next to the DVD/CD.
Right click on the actual DVD/CD drive and select uninstall, click Yes to any warnings given and then restart your PC.

Once the computer has restarted wait for the operating system to reinstall the drivers for the DVD/CD drive and then try to eject the disk tray.
Listen closely to the drive to see if you can hear it trying to eject.

If it still won't eject then chances are the disk tray is getting trapped on the drop down flap on the front of the computer case.
Pull that flap down and push the eject button on the DVD/CD drive and see if it will eject.

If its still won't eject then what E-Machines customer services have told you is correct and you will need a new drive.
They are inexpensive around $30.

If the drive still reads disks then your stuck with using a pin until you can have the drive replaced.

The very best of luck to you.

Have emachines T6528 graphics problem

if it doesn't boot at all .( this is the reason that you see that message on the screen it means that no video signal came out from the computer ) ..try to change the cable that leads from the pc to the monitor first ...and if the problem its still on ...it have to be something related with the Ram memory or the CPU ....cause these 2 are the only things that can make a system to do not boot at all ...if any other device will not work ..the pc will still boot to bios ..or will still show the devices it finds on start ...even if is not able to succeed with the operating system boot...
so ...either it boots and you can not see anything cause the cable its damaged...( very possible cause this is the case it shows that message ...when the cable its shorted ..or unplugged ) or it doesn't starts at all cause of the memory or CPU ...

E Machine T6528

open up the side door before you do anything else. Look for a stick or RAM that looks like the one your going to be putting in. When you find the extra slot that the RAM is going in, your going to find two latches one on each side of the RAM slot. The memory itself is slotted meaning it can only go in one way. Put the memory in and line up the slot with the hold on the bottom of the RAM. It should snap into place and the latches will hold the memory into place.

As far as the video card is concerned, its going to go into a long white slot, it also can only go in one way, the metal part of the card will face the outside of the back of the computer and the card will snap into place. After you do this you might need to have to put a screw into the metal slot of the video card to keep it in place.

At this point you can hook up the monitor to the external video card and the thing you might have to do is install the drivers for the video card when you get into windows. It might not detect the video card properly which is why you might have to intstall the software for it.

Also do the memory first to make sure the computer sees it and boots up. If it does then turn the computer off and then do the video card. That way if there is a any problems it will be easy to figure out where the problem is right away.

I use a 37

an easy way to check is if you happen to have a regular vga monitor, hook it up to the computer if you get same results then you'll need to get a new video card.

E machines t6528 video card

Hi, slot video card can handle a multitude of tasks. If you want, you can now buy one that'll handle the graphics processing for your computer. This is a fine and wise solution if you have modest graphical needs. After all, if a spot of word processing, watching the odd DVD and a little e-mailing is all you have in mind, then on-board graphics (VGA Port of motherboard) is fine.
Therefore, on-board graphics is fine if your intended use is modest, not so if you're likely to even entertain the idea of playing a relatively modern 3D game with the settings on a decent level, or undertake any task that involves a degree of graphical work.

  • It depends on your motherboard. If what type of video card it supports. If you have an older motherboard then it's either AGP or PCI. New Motherboards supports PCI-Express graphics card. There's also an indication what it supports. There's a label on it if it's AGP or PCI.

Added new ram stick now monitor does not recognise pc tower

According to this page (a memory vendor which I'm using only for illustrative purposes) your machine only supports up to 1gb sticks of the 400mhz variety. So you would use 4 x 1gb for a total of 4gb max.

Hi I have installed a

Need way more information, Gill.

I'm going to go out on a limb and paraphrase your problem as:
You installed a new hard drive, reloaded the operating system and Windows (XP?) loads, but you have no volume control and hear no sounds from the speaker.

If I have guessed correctly, then you probably need to load the sound card driver.

If I have missed the boat, please submit your problem in more detail beginning with a detailed description of the problem, the operating system, how long ago this happened and what happened that may have contributed to the problem.

Visiting the e-machine website should get you to the support page with sound card drivers.

If you can't find it, let me know.
