My Hotpoint WMF740 washing machine is displaying

it very well is the door switch might be stuck. The way to unstick it is to slam the door. Very often it'll jar the switch loose if that doesn't work you'll need to order one. Easy to install there are youtube videos on it. If you need the part...try here...repairclinic.com or appliancepartspro.com. Hope this info helps a little.

How to fix igniter for top burners

Hello. The range you have has a spark ignitor module inside the top, beneath the cooktop. Also, there is a spark ignition harness that has the four switches(snapped onto each of the burner valves at the control panel) connected together(daisy chained) that goes to the module and the incoming 120v supply. HOWEVER, the bigger issue here is getting to the module, harness, and other parts beneath the cooktop. Gas ranges are notorious for having the mount screws seize in the burners. When removing them is attempted, the heads usually snap off causing burner replacement to be necessary(which is why I listed the part numbers for the burners and screws). The cost of this can be high. I suggest calling for service if you are at all hesitant about working on the range. How to adjust oven controll to the right temp.

You may find that your new oven cooks differently than the one it replaced. Use your new oven for a few weeks to become more familiar with it. If you still think your new oven is too hot or too cold, you can adjust the thermostat yourself. Do not use thermometers, such as those found in grocery stores, to check the temperature setting of your oven. These thermometers may vary 20-40 degrees. NOTE: This adjustment will not affect the broiling or the self-cleaning temperatures. The adjustment will be retained in memory after a power failure. Adjust the oven thermostat-Do it yourself! To Adjust the Thermostat Touch the BAKEand BROIL HI/LOpads at the same time for 2 seconds until the display shows SF. Touch the BAKEpad. A two digit number shows in the display. The oven temperature can be adjusted up to (+) 35°F hotter or (-) 35°F cooler. Touch the + pad to increase the temperature in 1 degree increments. Touch the - pad to decrease the temperature in 1 degree increments. When you have made the adjustment, touch the START/ON pad to go back to the time of day display. Use your oven as you would normally. NOTE: This adjustment will not affect the broiling or self-cleaning temperatures. It will be retained in memory after a power failure

I plug my gas stove in and the display says bad line and beeps steady

"bad line" error means the control panel is not seeing a proper voltage to the oven. Have the power connections checked with a voltmeter all the way to the control panel. If voltage is present, you may need a new control. 25316221-dz1fkxf1fwolart5ai0divhk-4-0.jpg

Can't seem to access Hotpoint Stove Pilot Light?

Your range uses electronic ignition, not pilot lights. For surface burners the igniter sparks when the gas valve is turned to the "light" position. All burners should spark when any gas valve is in the light position. For the oven the ignitor is also electric but does not spark but rather heats up or glows. What is the problem with your range?

Hot point has 2 pilot lights on top... light them... then go to oven and light that one... it is a safety feature... no pilot on top kills the pilot in the stove.
.. since gas is heavier then air the company made sure if there was a gas leak on top that it would not be caught by oven and blow up.

Can't seem to access Hotpoint Stove Pilot Light? Also is there a second pilot light for the oven?

For the last 10 years or more there are no pilot lights on gas ranges. Modern ranges have an electronic igniter on the burners and a different type on the oven.

Oven smells like gas after use. It's only after I use it, and it lasts for a few days, then seems to dissipate.

You don't say if it's natural gas or LP gas, sometimes lp gas will smell if there is low pressure in the cylinder( nearly empty)
