Recording Playback
Does it just skip. When you try playing it on your computer or on the camara itself after you upload it to your computer?

Problem hard drive on jvc everio camcorder.
This problem usually show when your unit has detected a problem with your HDD and that's why you also hear that noise when you power it on , the way to correct this is to have the HDD replace, you can purchase a replacement HDD from a service center or better yet take it there for the replacement.

Lens cap error
This problem usually occur when the camera is running whilst the lens cap is put on. Try to turn off the camera and remove the battery pack for a couple of hours and then put it back and turn the camera on. If this does not work, try to reset your camera back to factory defaults. Please let me know if this works.

How do i upload video if the files aren't
Sorry, I'm not expose to mac. Anyway for a quick check, you may explore on how to rename the file, ex. MOV001A.MOD to MOV001A.mpg. It works with windows. Be sure to have back up since this process is e reversible. Good luck

While videoing inside footage isn't clear, what
I think it's low lighting that's giving you the problem. A lot of cameras and camcorders have this problem. They just can't focus correctly in low light situations. Getting more light on the subject will help solve this problem. Just like our eyes, they need light to "see" clearly.

The camera will not turn on. We need the data out
IF there is a hard drive in the unit you may be able to remove that and hook it up to a PC via a USB to hard Drive adapter, then remove the data with that use a program called unstopable copier. link below.
