LCD blinking on and off continually
If it flashes ON and OFF when simultaneously unplugged from both power and the computer then it's trying to communicate with you.
Mine flashes code to me. It tells me what to do. Last night it told me to get it $5,000,000 in unmarked bills.
Seriously, turn the monitor on without connecting it to a computer.
If it flashes ON and OFF continously, then you have either a bad monitor or a bad AC/DC power adapter/brick (you know, the rectangular black corded adapter you plug into the wall outlet).
If it only flashes ON and OFF when connected to a computer, try the monitor on another computer.
If the monitor is 3-4 years old, it may be time to replace it since a replacement AC/DC adapter might be very hard to find.
Let me know what you find out, if you need more help.

Looking for a new remote
Hi,
there are several after market controllers available.
I assume you can't get an original controller from the manufacturer?
If not, these are many well known manufacturers of multi-system controllers:
OneForAll http://www.oneforall.com/
Logitech http://www.logitech.com/en-us/remotes/universal-remotes
I have both of these brands and I can control several electronic components from 1 controller rather than 4 to 6 separate controllers. Any electronics shop or hi-fi retailer can help. Ebay is a good place to look if you like buying online.
Here's something to get you started:
