Dell PowerEdge 1600sc server won't boot.

> black screen & flashing cursor ...

Damaged boot-record on the disk-drive???

Was it configured to try to boot from 'A:' ?
Disconnect the hard-drive & CD/DVD drives.
Put a diskette into the drive, and see if it tries to find a boot-record on the diskette.
If it tries, then it has P.O.S.T.'d correctly.

> no beep codes

When it worked, did it beep _once_ when P.O.S.T. completed?

Taking out the RAM _should_ cause some beep codes, i.e., "no RAM".

> anyone?

Replace the monitor?

Replace a dead video-card?
Or, add-in a video-card, and connect a monitor to it, leaving the original monitor connected to the original video-card. One of the two displays should show the P.O.S.T.

I bought dell sata hard disk but it is not

You enabled in the BIOS ... did it show a name/brand/size, etc.? You connected this directly to the motherboard or to a card inside? Did you go to Windows Disk Management (right-click My Computer, Manage) ... should show as Unallocated Space. Set it up here then you should be able to see it in My Computer.

How to install sata hard drive on dell power edge

You have to "FDisk" or "Partition" the Drive before Windows will see it.

XP - Goto: Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Disk Management
Vista/Win7 - Goto: Control Panel | System and Security | Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Disk Management
You will see hopefully both Drives... Highlight the New One... Create a New Partion by Right Clicking or use the Pull Downs. It will ask size etc... use the defaults.
Next Format the Drive - Select the Drive again...Right Click Format using Quick Format to save time and you should be set.

My Dell PowerEdge 840 will not allow me to install

I am not sure where you got your information but I just checked Dell's website and they have Windows 2000 drivers for your server which include the video driver.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WNT5&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PWE_P4_840&hidos=WNET&hidlang=en&TabIndex=)

If you are still having a problem then you should call Dell support. Every Dell server has lifetime free phone support.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Power is 2950 i912 sel full

Namrata_stha, The I912 error is referring to the System Event Log is full of events and because of this is unable to log anymore. You must clear the log in order for the Server Management controller to log any more events. Now depending on the OS installed there are different ways to clear it. If Windows Server 2k8 you would use this command - wevtutil el ' foreach { wevtutil cl $_ } Where with Server 2003 you can go tot he Event viewer and clear it. Let me know if this helps.

Dell poweredge t105 freezes at boot

You will have to get into the controlled setup in order to find out what the problem is, or you can simply hit ctrl-D and do the Dell disk diagnostics which will take an hour or more, but will give you an idea of where to start. Logically, if it won't boot, then your RAID is probably broken. it can sometimes be repaired through either the RAID or controller setup menu, which you can see during boot. go here, for the manuals and documentation on how to do that: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/poweredge-t105/manuals
