My thinkpad laptop is locked i forget the pass
What type of password is it? What operating system?
If it's a BIOS password, you will have to:
-Shut down the notebook
-Disassemble the laptop, locate and remove the motherboard battery (looks like a small, flat, watch battery),
-Let it rest for 5 minutes.
-Replace battery, reassemble laptop and the password is gone!
If it's a Windows (assuming) password AND if it's XP, you can try logging on as "Administrator" with a blank password to see if that helps since you may not have one set for this account
If not, you will need to download and burn to DVD a copy of "Ophcrack", boot from the CD/DVD drive and let this Linux OS try to find your password for you.
Don't worry, it will not install anything over your hard disk drive.
Good Luck

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.
When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive.
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download thevarious drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, theywill then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install thevarious drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

Dear user,
Good day! It seems that your laptop has hardware problem... Maybe the inverter, your LCD screen, VGA, BIOS, or even motherboard. I suggest for you to go to your nearest computer technician to diagnose it manually.

What is the max ram
The amount of memory your Windows computer will recognize depends on two factors:
the maximum capacity your computer hardware can handle and the version of Windows your computer uses.
The most memory the 32-bit versions of Windows will see is only 3GB or 3.5GB, if your computer hardware can handle it. The 64-bit version of Windows can address even more memory.
I have a T30
To quickly identify if the keyboard/ribbon is at fault, connect an external USB keyboard and see if problem still exists.
If so, replace on-board keyboard.
How easy is to install a usb 2.0 port in the ibm
The easiest thing would be to buy a PCMCIA card that goes in on of the slots in the laptop. You can Google PCMCIA CARDS and it will show a list of alot of places to buy one. Radio shack, amazon.com, ebay.com etc.
Hope this helps
How do I erase my hard drive on a IBM T30 and
Get an install disk for the operating system you wish to install (Make sure your computer is able to handle that operating system first), then put the disk in and boot to the disk. If your computer is not set up to boot to disk first then you will have to go into the BIOS, usually F2 of F12 on boot (whatever says press to enter setup), then change the boot settings from there.
Once you are inside the installer for that Operating System, it will give you an option to erase the hard drive you are wanting to install the operating system on, and restart new. Just so you are aware, this will reformat and ERASE EVERYTHING on that hard drive, so make sure that you have anything you want saved backed up somewhere else.
Once that is done, continue installing the operating system and then your hard drive will be erased, and the operating system will be reinstalled.
If you were just looking to erase a hard drive, then you can go to my computer, then right-click the hard drive you want to erase, then click format. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING!
Hope this helps!

sound like you have a hard drive failure---if it were me, I'd install another hard drive, after I checked to be sure the connectors are solidly connected and in good condition. Try pressing the connections on better first, if that doesn't do it, try another hard drive and see if you get the same thing.
