IBM T30 screen has lines

I had the same laptop. Despite the fact that this has been the most reliable laptop for me, when it was on it's last leg I had the same problem as you.
Your problem is still probably a faulty LCD screen, but also likely is that your laptop is starting to die. If you want to try having a new LCD installed, that may fix the problem but do so knowing it may not fix it.

When i cut my lap

this means something has halted the boot up process.
Make sure there is no CD in the drive, no floppy disk (if it has one) in the drive etc.etc.
If all that looks good, the laptop may also be trying to resume from a faulted state...
remove the power supply and battery for about an hour, then reinsert the battery, plug the unit in, and try again.
If you still only get a blinking cursor, then the operating system on the hard disk is corrupt.
You may at that point need to reinstall or repair the operating system.

Hi there, It seams charger or battery is faulty. It is hard to say which of the 2 is faulty as alot of laptops will not run if the battery is not installed. I would advise you take it in for repairs so they can test your battery and charger.

Changed the CPU from 1.8

Points to incompatible or possibly damaged CPU. Are you sure the CPU is the right one (compare the pin and chip arrangement on the underside of the CPU), as some are rather similar.

If it was known to be a good CPU, replace it with the original and download and flash the bios with the latest upgrade.

There is a way to remove this password, but it rquires building an EEPROM reader and attaching it to your ThinkPad. For details please click on this link :-

Ok i have a Ibm thinkpad and my charger is stuck

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

Hey I got an IBM

Hi,

Either you can hook up an external monitor or access BIOS setup (Basic Input/Output System) to replicate if the horizontal line appears. This step will check if the problem is with the video card or the LCD.

If you get the horizontal line on the BIOS or never get it on the external monitor, then surely the LCD screen is beginning to fail. You need to reinsert and/or replace the LCD inverter or LCD itself.

However, if you see the horizontal lines on the external monitor but not on the BIOS, try to update the video driver. If this will not resolve the issue, you need to replace the video card or the motherboard of your laptop.

Hope this helps.

I have a DSL line.

Hi,

You may need to call your Internet Service Provider (e.g. Comcast or Verizon) and ask them to reset your internet connection. Also, you could try to reset your modem by unfolding a paper clip and pressing the inset button on your modem, the box that takes your phone line and gets the internet from it. Note that when you call the customer service number for Comcast or Verizon, they may have an automated feature to reset your connection. This works as well.

If you don't have a modem, ask your Provider for one, or go to your local electronics store. They should have one, and it will be about 100 dollars.

If these two options don't work, have your Provider stay on the phone with you and diagnose the problem. This usually takes a half hour, but it ends up working the majority of the time.

Thanks!

Hello,

Sounds like you have num lock on. The Num lock key is usually the same as Scrlk but to select the Num lock you have to press and hold Shift then press NumLk/ScrLk. A light should light up to indicate the keypad is on/off.
