The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. Plumbing makes loud intermitant knocking noise.

Does this happen when yo turn of the water from the tap or shower, right when you turn it off? If so, that is called 'water hammer'and is caused by too high water pressure. It's shaking the pipes when you suddenly shut it off. Turn the water of 'slowly' and see what happens, it goes away. Dish washer fail to activate the cleaning pills.

Faulty electronic sequencing releasing the tablet when cycle is ending, after drain, it is rather unusual. I do not think that is the problem.
Possible causes:
1. The machine does not fill or fill very little water, and this cause the released tablet not to dissolve. 2 The detergent drawer door is stuck for mechanical reasons, and opens very late. Opening is caused by vibration after the door had been released by timer board. Timer board release drawer door lock energizing the detergent door solenoid, but door stays closed until vibrations cause opening at the end of the cycle.

The first step is ensuring the machine is filling properly. The amount of drained water will not exclude underfilling. Check water level switch and inlet valve. If filling is OK test detergent drawer and solenoid.

Hi mike_poulton,

I'm Harvey the master Plumber.

Your question is: You have one of the above models and it has been a fantastic dishwasher but now it seems not to take in water even on rinse and the timer does not decrease.
Any ideas please the model is 6 years old and if too expensive to repaire it will sadly have to go.

This may sound stupid but first make sure no one turned the water off to the d/w. If OK then you likely have a clogged or failed solanoid valve. The d/w must be removed for replacement. I don't recomend this for the average homeowner. You might consider utilizing our Repair Directory to find a repairman.
