Background dark

Hello RobertoSame with my Viera plasma. Some channels re-broadcast shows or movies that look darker. I believe it is the station that is doing that since they looker darker on my TV, yours, and on LCD TVs too. You could possibly brighten your display by choosing different settings in your menu... but what your TV is displaying is correct. It is the broadcaster that perhaps decreasing the signal... since other stations look fine I assume.Jeff

TC-P42ST30 Only have the bottom half of the screen

Sounds like either a faulty cable to board connection, driver board or could most certainly be the plasma screen itself has failed. I would check the connections first. If you are not familiar with electricity or electronics you should find guidance from someone knowledgeable in the field or take it to a qualified service center. Electricity can kill you if you don't know what you are doing. I am not responsible for anyone getting hurt by tinkering with electricity.

I have a Panasonic Viera TC-P50U2 Plasma HDTV.

Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.

TV won't turn on

there is a surge protector on the main power board this has probably blown. or the main power board fuse or plug fuse. check them one by one. there even may be a secondary fuse in the tv around 3amp witch can blow. it will have red and black lines on it or orange that is the rating of the fuse. surge protector is like a battery shap round with 2 prongs onto the board.
