Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router with the wireless computer.
you will need to connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.
check the IP address of the computer.
open the router set up page of the router.

Try to reset again the router follow this steps in resetting it, Press and hold the reset button of the router for 30 seconds while the power is ON , then after that unplug the power of the router for 10 seconds and check if all the lights are now back to normal if still no and router is still under warranty better have it replace because router is already bad........

you need to add a repeater or signal booster for reciving signal in basement from uper floor.

My expierince is that whatever roueter you buy doenst matter it will not work properly if you are using wirless on 2 diffrent floors. on a same floor it can work smoothly even having walls.

You don't, your router logs your activity for you. You can read the logs b going into the management section of the router.

2. Click on Basic Settings.
3. Click on Wireless Security.

5. Select either WEP or WPA in the Network Authentication list.

To setup WPA

1. Enter your pre-shared key. This key must match the key that is used by each wireless client computer associated to your router.
2. Choose a key format. This can be hexadecimal digits (0-9, A-F) or ASCII characters (any key on the keyboard).
3. WPA Group Rekey Interval specifies how often the key rotates or changes.
4. WPA Encryption allows you to select 1 of 2 possible encryption methods (TKIP and AES) - choose one that your wireless clients supports.
5. Click NEXT, then Save and Restart to apply the changes.
6. Setup the WPA on your wireless clients. Refer to the documentation that accompanied your wireless clients, or your wireless clients on-line help system for information on how to setup WPA.

For that you need to enable DHCP on router also enable wireless on router. You need to configure your router with below method. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then set WAN settings as internet service provider settings enable DHCP. .Click on wireless and enabled it. Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. The router does not need to be loaded onto the system. What is the exact problem you are having?

The wireless router most likely has been configured with WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key.
Unless you configure the wireless card in your computer with the router's encryption key the computer cannot connect to the router by wireless.

To disable NAT on your modem, you need to set it to full bridged mode. To disable the NAT on your router, you need to open ports on your router.

You need to open this port on the router for Xbox live to work

2. If you have a base station you need to connect this to your router or modem with an Ethernet cord ( RJ45)
3. Connect the base to the MAC pc Ethernet port.
4.connect the base station power and look for the power light to go on.
5.Open MAC applications folder then the "utilities " sub folder.
6. Double click the "airport utility icon"
7. Base station on the left of the screen ( click) then choose "continue".
8. if not on the left of the screen then select "setup a new station" then click "continue .
9. enter password for the base station ( write it down) keep it . click "continue".
10. next select create and new wireless network
11. create a name for the connection
12. then select "WPA" for the security then type in a password
13Next .make a selection for either a router or modem the click "continue.
14. next select DHCP the click continue
15.Verified then click "continue" then wait for the restart of the base station.
16. You should see "congratulations" then click "quit"

Dear Friend,
You must be trying the WEP -OPEN.
try WPA-PSK and put in your customized password.
Before making any changes in the system remove all the cables from the router and reset the router once and try to configure the network with WPA- PSK.
It should work.
