Is the unit dead completely?

You need to change the belts???

Could be bad drive belts in the table mechanism. Have to take the top off and take a look inside

Your optics are either Really Dirty, or out of line and you would need a replacement optic pickup. If you are mechanically inclined, it's not a difficult repair and parts can be purchased thru lots of sites. First things first, pop the top and use "Dust-OFF" in the main chasis, it gets bad! Next, if you have a good CD/DVD player cleaner that uses fluid, run it thru a couple times then test any disc. If you don't have one, just about any convenience store has them. Just make sure it uses fluid!. If you still have an issue. post a comment and I can pdf you the schematic of the unit. it's pretty easy to read and follow if your a little more than a novice with electronics. Hope this helps

just use the remote and if it works then it is compatible many companies use the same remote frequencies between models as it saves on expense of producing new units there may be a problem if the newer unit has extra items to remote control

2 belts wear out on this model. Replace them.

Power supply problem?

sounds like the mech may be out of alignment. I would try running it by hand and making sure everything is moving correctly.

I was under the impression that the third belt is a larger belt that rotates the carousel, and it is located under the carousel -- so you would have to lift/remove the carousel to get to it (which would probably give you some new problems). I could be wrong about this, but that's the impression I've gotten from everything I've learned about the CX400. If you're having problems with your unit, the third belt might NOT be the cause of it. If you're not having problems you'd probably be better off leaving that third belt alone. Best of luck to you. Hopefully somebody else will chime in with some useful info.

pull off changer cover, theres 9 screws .looking from the front of the changer, look to left side,thats where there are belts for drive mech. the back one is for the carosel, it might of broke or came off. had the same problem belt came off. works good as new. hope it solves your problem
