Continue to hold down / Keep pressing the [REC/JUMP] Button until "Loading Default..." appears on the Display. 4. After 5 seconds if everything is in order, PLAY Mode appears on the Display. Hi Lloyd, The introduction in the manual warns that you should ask your dealer or store in order to change the batteries. I'd suggest seeing if they have any advice. That said, how are you trying to default the settings? I've copied the two ways below. Maybe try whichever one you haven't yet. I hope this helps. • Initializes the content of the Preset Key [B].
• If the Drawbar Control mode is at "UPPER A#/B", the content of [A#] is also initialized.
• If you do this operation before you start a new setting, you can start from the factory
• setting.

2. PRESET

• Initializes the content of all Combination Presets.

3. GLOBAL

• Initializes the Global Parameters such as Master tune or assignment of the Foot Switch.

4. LESLIE

• Initializes the content of all Cabinets.

5. ALL

• Initializes all parameters of this keyboard.
• If anything caused an unstable trouble on this keyboard system, the trouble would be cleared.

Default #2: Please perform the following steps to reset the XK-1 to the initial default setting. 1. Switch off the power of the XK-1. 2. Hold the [REC/JUMP] Button, and switch on the power. 3. Sometimes people are fooled because some tubes have TWO heaters in them and you have to check that BOTH are lit. Your first thing is to get a schematic. Try the "Captain Foldback" site for Hammond schematics. You can find it with Google.

Take it to the store and have them test it... don't be surprised if there is a simple thing that has been overlooked. If it doesn't worked there, it needs to go in for servicing so that is the logical course to follow anyway.

It is probably so kind of interference from the rotary switches. It is in the shielding of the Hammond organ. You might try some aluminum foil around the unit certain areas at a time which will give you an idea if it will help and what areas need to be shielded. If that does the trick you install the aluminum foil shield inside the chassis. Hope that helps. Let me know..

Lack of use, like an old car battery, takes its toll on the components. Time for service by a competant Hammond repair centre.

Make sure it is unplugged to do the mentioned below Output transformer could have blown. I'm not familiar with that model but if it's tube, look at the power tube Or tubes. A blown tube may look blackish. These are the bigger tubes on the amplifier. If it's a pre amp tube, the smaller tubes, probably a 12AX7 or 7025, check those. Sometimes when they blow they'll turn white inside from over heating. Before you have it repaired by a pro, get some "electronic" parts cleaner, available at any car parts place or Walmart. Get the kind with a picture of plugs on it. Not a generator.., cvc is like that. It leaves no residue. If it's a tube circuit pull the tubes out if the chassis is engraved with the correct tubes numbers so you don't get them mixed up. If not just pull each tube out about halfway. You'll have to "wiggle " them loose. Spray the chassis and tube pins and WIPE the chassis. For Each tube, spray the pins and push the tubes in and out in a slight circular motion. What happens is with time, certain chassis metals form crystals on them and slight dust forms on the chassis, when it's humid, the only slight humidity actually can cause a short between the tubes and chassis. Your exact predicament happened to me years ago on my B3 and none of us guys could figure out what happened to my perfectly sounding B3. I called a Hammond professional repair man and he said I'll be up, I know exactly what's going on. In a half hour the problem was fixed. If it's a transistor amp, you'll have to call someone. also, tube or transistor, transistors, resistors and capacitors can leak over time causing such problems. Output transformers also blow. hope this helps......

Your leslie amp needs to be recapped most likely.

This is far too complicated for this forum. I suggest contacting a Hammond repairman in your area rather than attempting to do this yourself.
