Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone outProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem. Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images. RCA always has the part number stamped on the board. It will be a six digit number and usually is preceeded by "P/N". I have worked on these units and would guess that many of the boards are the same. Check the part numbers and if they are the same and the physical layout of the board looks the same the boards should be interchangable. I could not determine through research if the parts are the same because the units are older. I did determine that the CRTs are identical which would mean that more than likely the control signal board for them will also work.

Ur tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv convergence board require the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors,must be change to solved the convergence problems.The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

The tuner in RCA is a known issue. I recommend connecting the satellite with RGB (Red-Green-Blue) component cables and red/white sound cables and use video. The picture will be better. The tuner repair can be pricey $$$

Note: It is connected on pin 11 of flyback, if it the microfuse is open

( meaning no resistance ) you may need to replace them, see the

you may need to clean the board with an air compressor or just

an ordinary paint brush to see the fuse.

This can be due to bad solder connections, old/bad capacitors, defective convergence amplifiers, or other bad component. If you are not comfortable with electronics soldering and high voltage, I recommend a service shop. 350 to 450 bucks average repair. This is not a do it yourself for the average person.

the convergence is out usually on the crts like this you have to replace 2 convergence ICs usually numbered STK392-110 or -120 or -150 or -180 or somthing similar. Sometimes the resistors in the same circuit are also blown and need to be replaced. I don't know what these are labeled on this tv. It is a pretty simple fix for someone who can use a soldering iron. After replacing the chips a full manual covergence is needed.

hi,you need to replace the front control panel, 1 or more of the tact switches have failed, if your proficient at solder work you can replace the switches, if not replace the small board behind the front buttons, available from any local tv shop just bring them the complete model # of your tv, gl, video-tek
