I replaced the bad cap, i recorded all the wires that had to unplug but one . Now I can not remember we it goes on the board, this wire is on the left, it is brown and blue. can any one help me?

ok on the board there are two wires that are identical one is a two wire plug that goes from the far right pins and goes to the upper convergence board. The other one is a three pin plug but only two wires that goes onto the three pin socket on the left and goes to the small AC filter board.I am attaching a pic of the board the red arrow goes to the small lower board on the right side. and the blue arrow goes to the board thats up above the main chassis on the left side.2_7_2013_8_34_30_am.jpg

A high pitched squeek or such is a short in the deflection circuit--where the high voltage for this set is developed, someone with a schematic and know how would have to first look in that area around the high voltage transformer, if not able to do that consider having the set looked at by a tech.

I have an RCA model D56W20. When I press power, the light flashes 3 long flashes then nothing. No picture, no sound.

I may of seen a different version of this question a few days ago, The set has a 3 strikes and you are out (not a joke) as it will try 3 times when powered up to come on and then go into shutdown. Most common issue is bad solder connections under the High voltage transformer (see photo of typical one). Not knowing your skill level let me know how you want to proceed.12_6_2012_3_02_57_am.jpg

Water in the rear projection bowl

thats normal but its not actually water. Its a clear CRT coolant (liquis) that prevents the CRts from heating up and cracking the CRT ( Picture tube)

RCA D56W20, Works OK, so long as the "black level"

The green CRT has an issue and will need to be replaced. It could be the Green CRT drive board but doubtful as your describing the classic sign of a CRT thats developing a Short . You can get replacement green CRTs and CRT drive boards from www.tvrepairworld.com

I have an RCA D56W20

Hi,

Be advised that without diagnosing the TV, it would be tough to provide legitimate 2nd opinion. However, i would be able to add few inputs. The correct repair of this TV would likely (without testing) require that the Green tube be replaced. When this was done we would also replace the Red and Blue tubes especially on a TV more than 5 or 6 years old. This was because a new tube would not be easy to balance with the other tubes and pushing the other tubes would likely lead to their failure in the near future.

If the tubes were available, the repair cost would not make it economically feasible. This type of repair would run $800.00 to $1,200.00 a few years ago. The price of the tubes were expensive and it was labor intensive requiring a good deal of recalibration.

I wish i could have a better solution. You could unplug the TV for few hours, say 2-3 hours and see, if that resets the problem, unless buying a new TV would be on the cards.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
