If all connections have been checked and the lamp is confirmed working, then I'd agree with the tech. Sorry for the bad news, especially since I know it's not a cheap repair :(

Digital board controls all video it could be the DM also as that powers the digital board.
Samsung HLN467W 46 in problem
Does the image stay frozen on the screen while the audio continues? If so there is a common complaint with the Samsung DLPs needing new Digital boards. Hope this helps. I can post the board number and link for a replacement if the picture freezes with the audio still working. If the picture just drops off the color that would be your color wheel.Let me know if I can assist you further.

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.
Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.
Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

You don't - you would have to replace the entire module unless you have an expensive smt station.
What you're describing is the logic main board and possibly the dmd board as well. Something we call a cascade failure. I'd strongly recommend you take it to a qualified shop and have them do the repair. I can assure you it won't be an easy task for the shop either...

this is most often caused by a faulty lamp or faulty ballast. try resetting the tv by unplugging and leaving it unplugged for 5-10 minutes or so, plug it back in and check it.
you should be able to find the replacement parts via partstore.com
ballast is part number BP4700017A
lamp is part number BP9600224A
compatible cheaper lamp part number BP96-00224ARL
hope this helps,

just from personal exp the easiest thing to do may fix or at least make it better. if u see puffed and leaky caps on power supply replace capacitors. if really dusty clean. both previously mentioned and both helped me. my tv was completely dead and replacing caps got it to power back up and work. it takes two trys to come on but works great so far. then i cleaned every nook and cranny with a small vacuum hose and different size/angle brushes that could be attached to hose. i only took out the psb board with caps and didnt touch anything in there that i could mess up. just cleaning helped enhance the colors. right now this is the best picture ive had on a tv and it was completly dead when i got it.
