I have a casio digital camera qv-r52 3x optical zoom when I turn power button on it will not stay on the lens retracts but I can view the pic's on the dish

Katie, Joe alerted me to your problem. The symptoms that you're experiencing suggest that you're experiencing a lens error. Lens errors are fairly common, but there are many causes. Some causes include poor or drained batteries. Or sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Casio Esilim EX-zs10

If it is brand new and any fault is excluded..than the batteries are the only one to blame ...Check again to be sure you inserted them well and in the right position ..and also if you do not use rechargeable ..use only high quality ones..cause some batteries on the market do not have the correct amperage and will not power the camera ..Also pay attention cause some cameras have a double power source ..and can be powered from an adapter...so ..they have a button to switch mode...This can be the case for you too ..

The EX-Z77 is not a battery charger. It does not charge via the USB port. You need to remove the battery from the camera and put it into the supplied battery charger.

Good moening. How do

The Exilim is using SD-cards to store the photos. These are usually unlocked by pushing them in a little. Try using your thumbnail to push it, then remove the pressure. It will spring back and come out a little. Then grab it and pull it out completely.
Also, you can connect the camera directly to the computer via USB, which may be more comfortable for you, if you just want to transfer the photos.

My 3x optical zoom is

I think it is a physical cause...and in most of the cases it is either the motor blame or something got between the lens and the main body ..If you still hear the motor trying to close it ..(sounds like a buzz) it may be functional but just stuck ..First try to take it out at the max ..by gently forcing it ..while you set it at the max zoom from the controls..Also wipe clean with a soft cloth the exposed parts of the lens that came in contact with the body ...to remove any traces of sand .Point the camera downwards when you are doing the expending of the lens..The idea is not to have any resistance (use the gravitational forces )..and first you have to expend them fully in order to get rid of any foreign corps may have stuck in ..After that repeat the operation while pointing upwards...in a try to close it ..
be sure you do not force them in or out ..but just give it a little push to see if they will work after ..If non of these works ..it means there is something more than just some sand ..and will have to be opened and cleaned..; see whats the issue and put it back ..I suggest professional help for that ..if will be the case..
have a nice day !

I HAVE ANA CASIO EXILIM

Hello

Thank you for using FIXYA!!!

This is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Every time i switch it

The lens error is due to failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. Unless you are familiar with handling of small devices must the camera be opened. If so check the voltage on the motor drive, check the auto focus and Zoom drives, it must be free with manual movement. If jammed the motor can be removed and realased. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

How do you upload pictures from the Casio Camera

Skip the computer drivers, software, and so on.
Get a card reader/writer and take the card out put it in the card reader and download your files to where you want them on the computer.
In Windows, I recommend to always make a root folder outside of Windows. By doing this, you may save your files from your camera should the computer crash for any reason. The files in the separate folder named anything such as "my Casio pictures", or what ever you want.
This is much safer, rather than in My Documents folder. That is because if the system has to be restored (on most Windows before Win7), then you loose all files in those MY DOCUMENTS folders.
On Linux or Mac, it it also safer to make a special folder where you know they are.
Hope it works okay.

I own an Exilim EX-V8.

Have you tried a new cradle and/or a different computer? If neither of those work then you'll have to get your camera serviced.
