The light flashes L and

L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

There is one simple thing you can try. Open the right side door, then the front door. Slide the toner cartridge out. Then slide the drum cartridge partially out then lightly "slam" it back in to reseat the drum cartridge. Re-install the toner then close the front and right side doors. Try a copy and see if this has repaired the problem. If not then try opening and closing the right side door another time or two. If this works then great. If not then you will need to call your local service company to have the machine looked at. Most of my customers have had either the right side door open/close or the removal/re-installation of the cartridges resolve their problem.

Flashing 4-H error message

try this reset procedure. Most likely this will work.

Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your WorkCentre and will help to clear error codes.
  1. Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
  2. Find the button below the word Auto.
  3. Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
  4. Press the [10's] key one time and the [1's] key four times to enter '14' in the LED Display, as if you were to make 14 copies.
  5. Press the green [Start] button.
  6. Press the pink [Clear] button two times.
  7. The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.
  8. If the above steps do not clear the error code, repeat steps 3 to 6 a second time.

When these Sharp AL series machine just run and run it means they are low or out of toner. This is especially true if you are hearing a light thump thump noise while it is running. Just let it run and after 5 minutes or so it should shut down and then replace toner light should come on. This is the small red light that looks like a stack of 6 dots.
Either replace the toner or have your existing toner refilled.

It will copy but the it will light and faded. Hard

Too much moisture in the paper will cause blotchy, light and faded print. Run the copy through a second time on the reverse side. If the second side is good you have a paper moisture problem. (Usually happens in non-airconditioned spaces during humid periods if the paper has been stored in the open.) Hope this helps.

The machine acts like it's making a copy but

Is the machine just running? Either after turning it on or pressing the copy button? This usually means that the toner is very low and the machine is trying to add toner which it must do before it will actually make the copy. Let it run for a few minutes and see if the toner light comes on. This will look like a small stack of 6 dots. If this light comes on you will need to replace the toner cartridge.

Blinking L1 code. new toner in place now,no

What has likely happened is your scanner lock has been turned to the lock position. This will be located inside the paper exit tray on the front left hand corner. Turning this counter clockwise a 1/4 turn should clear up that code when you turn the machine off and on.

The easiest way to tell if this is the issue is to lift the adf/platen cover and turn the machine off and on, if the scanner doesn't move then you know it is locked.

Red blinking light

Hi, this is not a cartridge related problem. As you have written, it is related to the paper misfeed. When removing any future paper misfeeds, always take extra caution as not to destroy the paper sensor. If it jammed near the paper tray area, first open the right cover to see the paper, the try to pull it slowly till it comes out. Never try to force it out as you may tear a small piece which will show you that a misfeed is still on. If it does tear, carefully remove it until its out. If it jams on the fusing unit, release the side levers on the copier or turn the green rotating lever on the front which appears when front cover is open until it ejects it out.

If you are sure there is no jammed paper, make sure the spring on right side of fusing unit, where there is a sensor is retracted to its position. Good luck pal.
