Graphs

Hi,
Once you have drawn a function (not an equation) you press [2nd][F5] to access the (G-Solv) application. The screen shows you several soft menus
  1. Root
  2. Max
  3. Min
  4. Y-ICPT
  5. ISCT
  6. Y-Cal
  7. X-Cal
  8. Integral
The one you want is Root. Select it and the application will look for the zero.t. If there are more than one roots use the left or right arrows to jump from one to the other.

Hope it helps.

I tried graphing 1/(1+3e^(-2x)) and it said mem

Hi,
At first, I though that the numbers could be groeing too much for the memory. But if you rewrite the function you see that it is one of the best behaved ones you can get
e^(2x)/(3 +e^(2x))
As x increases the function tends to 1.

The only reason why you are running out of memory may be due to some old graphics that are stored. You should get rid of them, even resetting the RAM if need be.

I understand your frustration at not being able to draw it. To alleviate this frustration, I am enclosing a picture of this function.

How do i get radicals to display in natural format?

Hi,
I really hate to be the one to bring you the bad news. The MahIO input output format that allows one to enter and display fractions and radicals in Natural Display does not seem to be available for your calculator.
I checked my answer in the French version of the manual (could get hold of the English version) and it says explicitly that the mode is not available
Here the title page of the manual I used

dd95011.jpg

and the offending line is in this screen capture. Look inside the manual, Chapter1. Section 4, pages around 10 to 13.Sorry.

I need to know how to get to reduced row echelon form

Hello,
The matrix cell operations (row calculations, column operation) are accessed as follows:

Press [Menu] button. Highlight [MATRIX] icon and press [EXE]. The list of matrices is diplayed. If you already created the matrix, it will be listed and you can select it (using the arrows) and press [EXE].
Three menu items are displayed:
F1:R.OP (Swap, XRw,XRw->,Rw->
F2:ROW (Del, Ins, Add)
F3: COL (Del, Ins, ADD)

Matrix Operations are accessed in RUN screen by pressing [OPTN] and selecting [F2:MAT] . Availabble options ( they are commands) are
F1: Mat displays identifier Mat on screen
F2: M->L converts a matrix to a list
F3: Det Calclates the determinant
F4: Trn Calculates the transpose of a matrix
F5: Aug Augments a matrix
F6 -> accesses additional operations
F1:Iden Create an identity matrix with specified dimensions
F2:Dim
F3: Fill

In addition to the foregoing you have the matrix operations (+, -, x, square, inverse).
However there is an additional piece of software that performs the row echelon reduction on the CFX9850GBPlus. The information is available here (page 13: program ROWREDA)

The program can be downloaded from this site.

Hope it helps.

How do i get the equation of a best fitting line?

Hello,
I am sorry but I will have to assume that you know how to enter the data.
Once you enter your data [MENU][STAT], press [F1:Graph], select Gph1, Gph2, or Gph3. Once the graph of the experimental data is drawn, you will have access to the diverse regression models. Your choices are [X:Linear] [Med-Med], [Quadratic :X^2] [Cubic;X^3] [Quartic: X^2]. Press [F6] to scroll right to access the others: [Logarithmic:LOG], [Exponential :EXP], [Power :Pwr] and [Sinusoidal: Sin]
After you select a model and press [EXE], the screen displays the equation and its various coefficients. On that same screen, you have a menu option [F6:Draw]. If you select it, the regression curve will be drawn on the same screen as your statistical graph. This allows you to judge if the fit is good. If it is not, you have the option to choose another model.
The other option [F5:Copy] allows you to save the regression equation in the Y1, Y2, etc. variables.

Hope it helps.

Graphing

Hello,
Your question puzzled me for a while, and now I understand why tou cannot graph it. I suspect you get a syntax error. (By the way it is extremely helpfull for us to know exactly what message you get).
To draw the exponential you do not use the caret [^] as you would any power. You enter it as Y1= [SHIFT][e] [(] [X, theta, T] [)] . The parentheses seem to be unnecessary but I would enclose the argument of the function in parentheses.
Hope it helps.

Were working on functions in my calculus class,

Hello,
If I understand correctly you want to use the graph function Y1, or Y2, ..in an equation. In the [RUN] screen press [VARS][F4:GRPH][F1:Y]. It echoes on the screen as Y. Press 1 and you have Y1.
However, you will not be able to manipulate it symbolically, because that variable contains the value of Y1 for X=0, if you have not drawn it yet. or tha value of Y1 for the last X used to draw the graph Y1=f(X).
The calculator is not capable of manipulating symbolic expressions. what you want it to do is beyond its capabilities.

Hope it helps.
