I'm trying to fix an autohelm 1000 and ned the schematic
Go to Raymarine website and look under Technical Support, Manuals and documents. All of their product manuals are listed there. If you are burning out the transistors, it sounds like you are puting too much load on the auto pilot.
Raymarine st 1000 displays 1000 (flashing and beeps) and the actuating rod will not move
Have the same problem, sick and tired of it. It is 18 month old, had repaired once 2 months ago by raymarine, some soldered joints came undone on the board, not working again! Used it 4 times since new out of probably 20 attempts. Every time I try to use some new problem raises. Possibly just my luck. Just ordered a new Navico st 32 heard it is better unit.

Same thing happened to a friend using an ST2000+ (was reading 2000 instead of 1000). Found that that power (12 V) and ground had been mixed up, so that the internal reverse voltage protection keeps resetting the pilot each time a button was pressed.

The ST1000+ does not have an internal GPS. What it does have is an electronic compass underneath the keypad. When you order the Tillerpilot to steer to a bearing, the unit uses the electronic compass to steer using a series of corrections.

I have the same problem. Do you have a solution for it yet?
I do think it has to do something with decreasing power from my onboard accu. The first hour(s) sailing I don't have any problems, but after a while mine is jumping to STANDBY too, and the periods between become shorter, until less then 5 minutes.

the worm gear that is inside the unit may need to lubricated,, remove the bottom case and lubricate gears and shaft with a teflon or silicone based lube. also on my sailboat when this happened I found that I needed to re-calibrate the unit - take the boat out into a very calm and open water and ' spin the boat ' in CAL mode ( this will re-orientate the internal compass ).
