My dehumidifier ddr557he will no longer defrost. How do I repair this?

well there are three things i know of that can cause this : 1st your filters are dirty needs cleaning . 2nd your humistat is set too low , unit runs too long with out a cool down period , 70% rh is a "normal" setting 3rd in older units that might be getting up there in years its possible that some of the cooling gas has leaked out and this causes freeze ups

Unfortunately, the model number you listed has been discontinued. But is still supported thru the Danby Consumer help line: 800-263-2629. Contact them regarding your need for the Owner's Manual and they can email you one as an attachment.

My Dehumidifier has been in the shop for 4weeks

I'm sorry you're having a problem. But, I don't believe anyone here at FixYa, would be calling a repair shop, to tell them how to repair your dehumidifier. Perhaps you have us (FixYa) confused with Delonghi Technical Service. Try contacting them.

Need manual for danby Model

Here is a link to a generic Danby user's manual which should help out since they all use the same basic controls:

http://www.danby.com/cms/uploads/products/en_manual/DDR5009,_6009,_7009REE_EFOM.pdf

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

I would like to have

I wish I spoke more than a few words of French. Never the less, the following link in French, is where you can find it. Search for the model number of your unit and from there (if it pops up. They don't always do) go to that page. If it doesn't click on Dehumidifiers and look for the one you have. Click on it, and when the next page opens, click on Support. The Owner's Manual in French can then be downloaded & printed for future reference.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

We have Danby Model DDR557HE-7

All Danby dehumidifiers, regardless of the model number operate the same way.
The link below to a 50 pint model should provide all the info you need.

However, I think you'll find that draining into a bucket is not an option. As the hose drain relies entirely on gravity to drain. So, it will not drain down and then up into a bucket. The hose drainage method, is designed to drain into a floor drain or a sump.

Hope this helps you.

No heat coming just cold air

I'm not sure exactly what you have. As you listed the problem under Problem with the Danby DDR557 Dehumidifier and then said, "no heat coming just cold air". Dehumidifiers are not designed to generate heat. Is it some other type of appliance that you have?

Dehumidifier doesn't turn on

The water in your sump pit needs to be no more than 2-3 inches, this is enough to keep your pump happy and make sure it works properly when you need it to. Equally, the pump should start to work when the water level is still 6-7 inches below the level of your floor. https://www.homoq.com/proper-sump-pit-water-level/

My Danby dehumidifier leaks out

The drain tube or hole that drains into the bucket is probably clogged.

Turn the unit OFF and remove the bucket. Look in the cavity where the bucket was removed for a drain tube or drain hole. Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (No wire coat hangers) , that's appropriately sized to fit in the hole. Carefully feed the ZIP Tie into the hole or tube and thread it as far as you can. At some point the drain will curve, but you have to carefully get past this point. Once the Zip Tie has reached as far as it can, slowly pull it out while rotating it. This will loosen the clog. Once you have it half way out, be prepared for water to follow. This method should solve the problem.

Have Danby dehumidifier, turned on first time this season, fan & all displays worked fine, but compressor never went on. Removed back panel & compressor is very hot.

Be careful. i do not know. set at highest setting and let it run. while running, reduce setting to the lowest over a few minutes. at a lower setting you should be able to tell that the compressor has started. run it for 5 minutes, then unplug your machine. next, feel the cooling coils to see if they are very cold. if they are not cold, your unit needs to be serviced.

Model Danby dehumidifier DDR70A2GP turns off after 30 sec. It has not been used yet this season to dehumidify clean finished basement. It is very clean and has worked well. Tech support was no help.

i don't know. my generic unit will do similar if i don't have the units moisture level set at a lower number. consider using your lowest setting as a test.
