go to the garmin site register your unit use the pc connect the usb cable to the phone it will self setup there is a software setup for the 1490t i did mine 2 days ago , still can't figure out the software for doing your own routing etc but to register it follow the above

Sounds like the battery pack has failed or the charger was not correct voltage and you burned out the unit. I would go with the battery, they are very cheap. Takes about 15 minutes to replace it.

Same map name on internal memory and sd card can be problem.You can also try to upgrade your software with garmin web updater,but be sure that your battery is fully charged before doing an update.

Depending on the package you purchased, you may have a USB cable. If so, connect the cable to your n?vi and your computer USB port. USB hubs may not be capable of charging the unit.
If you do not have a USB cable, and are not able to charge the n?vi in your car, the fuse in your car vehicle adapter may be bad. You can unscrew the black round end piece from the adapter. This will be on the end that goes into the lighter/power socket. Be careful not to loose the silver cap. The fuse is spring loaded and may pop out. The proper replacement fuse type is indicated on the side of the vehicle adapter.
Garmin also offers an optional AC adapter that can be used without a computer.

it will be getting the satnavs drivers online for it to work.let it do for a while it should work eventually

I assume that since you've successfully updated your GPS previously (from your question), you must have a Garmin account, registered your unit and Garmin Express installed. With GE installed on your new computer, you should have no difficulty continuing to update your nuvi.

The pictures must be in the "JPEG" folder of either the GPS's internal memory or external SD card to display. Acceptable formats are: JPEG, BPM, GIF, BNG, TIF, and others.If you are having trouble, resizing and / or reducing the number of colors in the picture may help. If you save or convert the image to GIF, it will automatically be reduced to 256 colors.

Try to charge battery some time if that don't work,they should refund it,or send you again new battery which is tested and works.

if you are talking about the interface cable, try Ebay or contact Garmin to purchase a replacement cable.

If you have complete U.S. map installed on your device it should work in Pennsylvania too.Best regards.

what are you connecting your garmin usb to?

you do realize humans answer these qusetoins.. "how do I..." sounds a whole lot more normal. for the 1400 series devices you power it on while holding the lower right corner of the touch screen. It should say "do you really want to erase all user data?" and you just say yes. This can solve weird issues but will erase all your data and will never change the maps. Also sets all settings to the default.
