The time and date are set on my Coolpix S230. The Date Imprint is on and it puts the date on pictures. However, when I download the pictures to my computer, the Date Taken info is missing.

What software are you using? If you are using the ViewNX 2 from Nikon (updated with the patches), it should have the correct date taken information in the EXIF data. However, if you are using the older ViewNX software, then the software can corrupt the EXIF information or merely fails to download it with the picture. I'd suggest you first check if your software is up to date. Try here: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ2NTUzMDUwMy9zaWQvTHNYeVZGU20%3D for the current versions of various Nikon software. Please add a comment with the software version that you are using for extra support. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Nikon coolpix S8200 won't connect to mac and download pictures

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo management program.

Can a cracked lense be replaced?

Go on Nikon's website and find the nearest Nikon Service Center. They can give you a price. However, my educated guess is that will probably cost considerably more then the camera is worth.

Nikon s5200 will not turn on

Hi please do double checks your battery. Make sure to try it out with the brand new one. The best way is to take it to the repair shop and ask the technician to check the battery condition. Most don't charges money and at the same time they tell you the estimate cost to repair it. sually buy new one is cheaper than repair depends on the camera some may already experience a major problem within electronic board or mechanical which not worst it to repair. Hope this help! terry

How can i know my serial no of nikon s230 camera

On the bottom of your camera, on the side opposite the screw threads for a tripod, you will see a long gray label or plate. Although it may be small and hard to read, it is on that label or plate

When i try to view my pictures I get a msg that

you memory card needs a data recovery. The files should all be there if you don't overwrite them and can be retrieved. Try your local camera store.

My camera won't take pictures with the flash on and when i try the red light just blinks. only takes pictures with no flash.

When your flash light (I mean the part that gives the flash) or the capacitor that stores the power for the flash are defect. you won't see a flash. When a red light comes on, when actually the flash should fire, the most likely the capacitor is defect. The electronics sensed it could not reach the voltage needed to fire the flash. It also could mean your battery can't deliver enough to charge the capacitor, but is that was the case the battery indicator should tell you.

Memory Card

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

MY nikon transfer will not

Consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software". Or you can use NIkon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.
