I get an occasional spark when microwave is in use

Presuming that you have iliminated the possibility of any metal objects that are not meant to be in the machine being in there (and this includes dishes and other items with silver or gold leaf on them, which WILL spark and burn!) then take a look inside the oven its self. You will find a waveguide cover. It is usually a strange flakey silvery plastic/card like material called Mica and is usually on the same side of the microwave wall as the control panel (So if the picture on this thread is accurate, I will guess the Mica cover is on the right hand wall inside as you look at the machine from the front) . Over time, the magnatron (the thing that creates the microwave energy) will often burn a hole through the mika, or cause a dark brown or black burn mark in it. If this cover is even slightly damaged then it may well cause sparking inside the machine. These covers are designed to be removed and you can buy replacements for them from electrical stores.

My GE Advantium SCA1000HSS LED display is blank.

Sounds as though you'll have to replace it again. There isn't much else it can be. Is there a chance that the house is not well grounded? Lighting and the such can do this.
given the cost of parts....Look to price shop a new one before fixing this one.

Just stopped working as we were heating something

Try tripping the breaker on the circuit that it is on, and leave powered down for ~10 minutes. This will sometimes reset these ovens (has happened to me twice, and this "fixed" it both times.

Good luck,

I have a GE MICROWAVE/OVEN

Everything inside the oven is controlled by a data board - this board has failed. Since you were using the bake cycle at that time then most likely the resistance used to heat has failed somehow and that short has fried the board.
Open the oven and check that: the power reaches the data board (the power source is powered and operational), the heating resistance isn't shorted, and that the control relays are in good order (the contacts might be fried) - all you need for that is a multimeter. If all are ok then the board itself has failed and it will have to be replaced.

Same problem that was asked recently. I didn't

I have to ask. Have you tried to see if the magnetron was also running at the same time as the fan and turn table? The reason I ask is.... "usually"... all three are energized at the same time. Try a cup of water inside to see if it heats up when time has run out in addition to the fan running and the turntable turning.

These functions are controlled by the relay PCB
Item number 1653 of the link below.

I am not saying the relay PCB is bad... but something is telling the relay PCB to remain energized via the Smart board Item 1655 of the link below:

Either one can cause the problem and I am not going to sit here form the computer and tell you to go buy either one. They will have to be isolated and tested with a meter.

If you were to change the replacement parts listed above the total (parts only) cost is over $200.00.

There isn't alot you can do without a service manual in hand to troubleshoot this one. Maybe a few... taps on the relay PCB.... after that.. it is test probes and meter time.
