My tumbler won't turn. Tried unloading some rocks
I had the same problem, The problem is that the tumbler lid is to smooth and there is no grip from the spinning wheel. I solved this problem by taking a kitchen steak knife and roughing up the edge of the tumbler where it rides on the spinning wheel. Works great now. Best of luck

Nothing high tech here. Try it without the o-ring. If the water does not start to leak out in the first 3 to 5 minutes of tumbling you will be ok. Stop it every day to check the water level.
Set the whole thing on a cookie sheet in case it does leak when you are not watching - you don't want a bunch of rock dust and polishing grit on your table or floor in the morning.
You will not damage anything by trying it without the o-ring.

I can't find anything for the NatGeo Rock tumber ( I assume it is National Geographic) but I did find a site that has free instructions on how to use a tumber and hints for the best results, The site is Geology.com and they have I hope the information you need. I wish I had better results.
