Hitachi NR83A2S Framing Nailer, Full Head, Plastic Strip Collation - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Reassembling the Hitachi NR 83A2 (S) magazine
The reason that you are having trouble re-
assembling the ribbon spring is that you need three hands to complete the job. As you recall the nail pusher just slips into the front of the rails. The pusher has the spring and a pin to retain the spool in place. Install the spring with the bolt hole towards leaver and slip into the front of rails. Take a small paper clip and bend a small hook to catch the ribbon spring. Hook the springs bolt hole with the paper clip and hold the spring in the
approximate position for bolt as you push the assembly into rails and use latch to hold. While holding spring with paperclip, insert bolt thru rails and spring into nosepiece. Just break off the paperclip at this point and you are almost done. Some nailers have a metal support clip that you would need to have in place on bolt before installing bolt thru spring. For a breakdown of the gun go to www.toolpartsdirect.com. The other bolt for rails has a support/guide for the safety foot. Good luck and email if you have questions.
How do i put the
Remove all bolts holding the rails to the body of the gun (make note of the position of the parts as you take then off ). Slide out the pusher assmbly. If the spring is good (wound tightly and has the bolt hole), hold the pusher assmbly in hand and attach spring to body of gun leaving bolt loose. Slide the pusher back into the rails and attach rails to body of gun up against the bolt (snug down bolt and check spring action). Re-attach rails to gun. Some after market rails do not have the slot cut into front allowing easy install of spring (cut slot with dremel). Good luck

Air leak
My Guess is that it needs a new "O " ring or some other form of seal some where round the trigger actuating spindle. Should be quite easy to fit if you can get one the right size

1.Remove the air hose
2.Hold the nose down on a 2x4 on the ground. Make sure the safety guide is full depressed.
3.Squeeze the trigger.
(I realize that sounds redundant, but I have to insure your safety as much as possible. We at FixYa want you to be safe. A Framer Nailer can be dangerous if safety precautions aren't observed)
4.Pull the slide back, and grab around it with your hand, up against the back of the gun. (Magazine)
If you accidentally bump the latch lever, the slide won't spring forward, possibly causing you injury by using this method.
5.Remove any nails. Pull the plastic strip of nails out.
6.The method I use here is to rest the air chamber cover on a table. (Top of the gun) Nose AWAY from your face. I use a small flat tip screwdriver, and see if I can move the Driver back up into the gun. Then see if I can ease one nail out at a time, by moving the nail down out of the nose.
You have two nails trying to drive out at the same time. They need to be separated from each other, so that you can get one nail out at a time.
Most of the time this occurs because of lack of lube. The gun is supposed to have 4 to 5 drops of pneumatic oil, added to the air hose inlet before starting the day out.
(Gun is faced so that the air inlet connection is straight up, oil is added, while the trigger is being squeezed in at the same time)
I don't rely on oilers in the air line. I think they're a bunch of hooey. I've had very few problems, when I have added oil manually at the start of the day.
Sometimes using those 'bargain' nails will cause a problem also. If you find a brand of nails that are cheap, this is the usual result.
Sometimes we framers are too fast on the trigger, and do not have the safety guide fully depressed, before firing the next 'shot'.
If you have further questions please post them.

Hitachi NR 83A2S, Nail wont fire properly
The NR83a has an adjustment just below the triggering plunger. It is a 6mm hex head bolt with a locking nut. Loosen the nut and adjust screw out several turns and re-test. Make adjustment as necessary. I have seen many of these gun without the locking nut which allows the bolt the adjust itself all the way down. AS parts wear this screw needs to be adjusted. The pushing lever and the plunger are wearing smaller/shorter, that is unless the locking nut was missing. Remove gun from air supply for safety when making adjustments. Good Luck an email if you have other qustion about this gun.
Hitachi nailer doesn't fire, it has no leaks. When trigger is pulled there is no back pressure from trigger
I've had that happen before and what I found was one of the Staples or nails had misfired and wedged before leaving the gun. read the manual on how to get to it for that particular model and also it might be a good idea to adjust your pressure accordingly to keep it from happening again. If the force isn't set proper then a nail could Jam , block the mouth and not allow any other nails to exit. It's very easy to do and not that hard to fix once you've done it at least once. Good luck.
