Rheem Paloma Tankless Water Heaters PTG-74PVN Tankless RTG-74PVN Questions & Answers
Paloma tankless water heater is reading 14 - 0on
There is a piece of clear plastic film wraped around the heat exchanger. Conductive material (black) is coated on that film. In case of overheating, the film melts, break the circuit and the heater stops. That's how it works, in theory. I had the same problem and had to remove the heat exchanger to inspect the film on the back side. It's a pain in the @#$%, especially found no problem with the film itself. This is what you should do: Find and disconnect connector U in the center of the board with 2 tiny white wires. Measure resistance between those 2 wires, should be 50K~100K. If it's open, either the film is damaged or, in my case, the connector on the film is bad (on the right side of the heat exchanger). Since no other tankless maker uses this protection scheme, I don't think it's doing much. My solution is to fool the controller with a 100K ohm resistor across the 2 white wires. If you're not comfortable with my micky mouse solution, replace the film.

I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem
customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. The technican diagnosed the problem as the "flow control valve"; he managed to get Rheem/Paloma to cover the part under warranty...I only had to shell out the money for the install.
Eco 180dvp What is an error code 5? Thanks
Imperfect CombustionClean air inlet filter.Clean combustion air fan.Clean heat exchanger fins.Check for adequate combustion air ventilation openings and clean if necessary.Check vent system for partial blockage and correct as necessary.
I have c7 code
it is a communication problem between remote control and tankless unit Temporary fix: 1 Turn off electricity to tankless and remove cover. Find two terminals that remote control connects to. 2 Disconnect remote control wiring. Turn electricity back ON. 3 Open hot water tap and see if unit works as expected. 4 Without remote, tankless will heat water to default 120 degrees F and will run without the remote. Contact Rheem they may send you another pcb board.
