SOURCE: 98 CBR F3 doesn't stay running w/o choke on
There seems to be fuel starvation to the carbs.
Check the fuel filter and the petcock, not bad too to clean the carb/s.

Pull the slide out of the throat of the carb then move the clip at the top of the needle down one notch, two if needed. This will richen the low end fuel mix.
Need a "very helpful" rating asap. Thanks!
SOURCE: my 2001 Yamaha YZ 250F won't idle without choke.
did you pull the float pin out and the brass housing that the pin goes in? you may have to clean that and go get some spray brake cleaner with the red straw and blow out all the ports. the reason it will idle with the choke pulled is it shuts off air flow which pulls more fuel to air. without the choke it cant get enough fuel. i would try the bowl again starting with the float and needle. but go ahead and just really clean it all the way through or you will just keep chasing it.

This seems to be a problem from your air intake (assuming it is 2 stroke) until the combustion chamber. If it has a valve system then it could be faulty. The valve has a small flap that flickers when petrol is thrown inside the combustion chamber. Basically when you open the throttle the engine tends to go to a higher revs, hence suction on petrol intake increases. What you have described means no petrol into the combustion chamber and hence tends to die out. So few things u need to check are:
1- Petrol flow to the carb
2- Carburator is blocked somewhere
3- Reed valve intake is damaged and hence you can see petrol popping out of the carb.
For now, I think this should be enough to help you, but please advise if it is a 4 stroke as then it could be different.
