The bike could be fitted with a side stand cut off switch. this is to stop the rider driving off with the side stand down. also if the bike is in gear the bike should not start, this is linked to the clutch/gears. AGAIN IT STOPS THE RIDER FIRING UP THE BIKE AND THE NEXT thing he is aware of is his bike either taking off with out him or hitting a wall or car etc.
hope this helps

I removed key switch on a 2008 yamha star 650 when I put it in gear it shuts off

Here are some possible causes:

Low idle RPM: If your idle RPM is set too low, the bike may shut off when you put it in gear. You can consult a manual to see what the RPM should be.
Side stand switch: Most bikes have a safety switch that shuts down the engine if the side stand is still out. Check if the side stand is still out and if it is, try putting it up.
Clutch lever switch: Most bikes have an electrical switch in the clutch lever as a safety feature so that you can't start it in gear unless the clutch is in. This switch could be faulty.
Safety control box: This box checks all the safety features and kills the engine if needed. It could be faulty.
It's best to take your bike to a professional mechanic who can diagnose and fix the issue for you unless you can check off each of the above as the problem. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/833178/Yamaha-Xvs650.html

I have a 2008 hyosung gt250r. All of a sudden it has started this issue. Where i start the bike in neutral then go to get first gear and the bike just cuts out each time..so ive had to start off in second...

The problem is the side stand cut out switch - it allows you to start the bike to warm it up on the side stand but if you true to ride off with the side stand down the bike will cut out reminding you the stand is down.
If you bike is cutting out when putting it into gear after starting it is definitely the cut out switch - check the side stand there will be a switch around it some where close to were it bolts onto the frame.

Why bike wont starts in gear

Safety feature ... side stand down and bike in gear = will not start. Bike in gear, side stand up and clutch not pulled = will not start. Safety features. Please use them - please do not try to defeat them.

I have a 2006 hayabusa it turns over but wont start

Hello,
Assuming that the bike is stock with no modifications, the first thing to try is to sit on the bike and lift the side stand up to the riding position. If the bike starts then you may have a problem with the side stand switch or the clutch lever switch.
Has the bike been sitting for a long time? Does the fuel smell stale?
Please try the side stand procedure and then contact me back.

I just bought a dr350 used and the kick stand is broken I noticed that it has a sensor what does it do?

it is a switch that wont let you ride away with the side stand down. The bike will probably start in neutral, but when you put it in gear, or go to let out the clutch, the switch will turn off the engine, unless the stand it up pushing the switch closed

Neutral lite wont come out and bike wont start. only if you push the bike.

Bike will not start if kick stand is down and you are in gear. Will not start unless clutch is pulled in.

Do not understand light wont come out ... do you mean ON?

Bike stalls out in neutral and wont start back up while riding

It sounds like the battery may be bad in spite of Auto-Zone's pronouncement. The connectors to the battery may be bad enough to make a poor connection to the battery posts. Is the battery water level up to the line in each cell?
Re-jet one step bigger as the baffle removal will make it run lean.
