If fuel is leaking down just in front of the RHS foot peg, that is the area where the fuel pump and lines exit the gas tank and connect to the fuel rail and lines on the engine. There are two quick disconnect fittings in that area, unfortunately you have to remove the bodywork on that side of the bike to get to the fuel lines. If you are not mechanically inclined, I would suggest taking the LT to a shop with BMW experience. Removal and CORRECT replacement of the bodywork is a bit complicated and involved and much too long to post a step by step procedure here.

BTW, I would also suggest NOT RIDING the bike while this leak is a problem..... as a large fire can easily result

Good Luck and sorry that this is not a easy 30 second fix.

You could have either a vacuum line leak or an intake gasket leak. Often an intake gasket leak will also cause an oil consumption issue as the actual vacuum leak is at the bottom side of the intake and will result in not ony a misfire at idle but will pull engine oil into the intake causing a loss of engine oil. The other primary sources of leaks I find are broken plastic vacuum lines, usually on the passenger or rear side of the engine. The throttle plates on these do cause a loud hissing noise [normal] so it's often hard to pinpoint an actual vacuum leak unless the air cleaner is on which mutes some of the normal air noise.

I have a 89 chevy 1500 4x4 with a power steering leek and can't see the line that is leeking because it is going throught the fram after leaving the gear box

A very Fast leak Is Simple to Diagnose
  1. Start Engine with reservoir Full
  2. Have a Helper to sit inside
  3. Go under vehicle and look where you suspect leak is
  4. Have helper turn steering wheel to
  5. RIGHT or LEFT All the way till it stops and hold it there
  6. If you see it Pouring out from the Area suspected.
  7. That WILL be the HIGH PRESSURE Power searing hose.
  8. Under High Demand they have lots of pressure.
The Low side (RETURN will leak ALL the TIME and just Drip unless there is a Large hole in it
Hope I Have Helped
