You can check if the front axles are greased properly ,if they r dry it will effect the steering.air pressure in the tires will also.if nothing is damaged grease it up and try that theres not alot that can go wrong other than what i listed hope this helps.

500 sportman Polaris runs good when cold when hot it cutout
Sounds like it is running lean. Adjust the air fuel mixture. If that does not help, may need to do some carb work.

4 wheel not working on 2005 polaris 400 sportman
I had this problem with Artic Cat 500 and after ensuring the electric shift was working I discovered the mounts for the front drive shaft had broken and would not allow the shaft to engage. I suspect mine was caused by plowing but any number of things could break or bend these.
