Hi, I replaced the switch mounted below the brake handle, but the brake light work intermittently, it seems there a wiring problem somewhere. where to from here. thx

Test ground -socket-harness-bulb-even switch so basically the whole circuit

    thanks, i also not that the fuel gauge isn't working, so it could be ground problems

what about the sockets of the lights are they rusted in the contact spot and touching the 2 positive connections

Hi,

The jiggle method is not enough you have to look at the wires. I just did and I found out that all six wires were broken close to the splice. That splice is located close to the back seat.

Hope it hepls.

brake light switch on foot pedal bracket is out of adjust or has just completely failed.which is not uncommon for this particular car

Brake lights work but are very dim
It can be loose wiring or issue with bulb or the battery is weak or brake light socket getting short somewhere.Car lights getting dim,there are many such common issues noticed.I will share some familiar help links,related to your problem.

I have a 2002 volvo s80 2.9 which recently had the brakes replaced. Shortly after, brake light, abs light, check engine light remained on (intermittent at first) and trip od is dashes, also intermittent....

Check the brake light switch and the bulbs themselves. If the brake light is not working you cannot shift from park.

Sounds like a grounding problem. You are having too many problems with unrelated electrical circuitry. Trace wiring harness and double check all wiring that should ground to metal framework.

My brake lights are intermittent. It seems to be
needs replaced . disconect wires and remove switch and replace then connect wires you can check this with a ohmometer when removed .
hope this helps around 10 mins would do this .?

Brake light short
First check to see if the brake switch can be adjusted. It may not be in a good position. If this does not stop the problem, then disconnect the brake switch over night to see if it clears the problem. If it does, then replace brake switch.

Good Evening everyone, I am currently in South Africa (Should someone advise me on calling a certain call center etc) I purchased a second hand Big Boy Tsr 250, I was told it needed a new battery, as there wasn't one in at the time. It was also made clear the bike had returned from a mechanic recently, due to electrical issues, so the indicators did not work, and the break like was always solid red, didn't change even when I break front and rear. I took the battery back to the seller, wanting to start it and test drive it.. It didn't Want to start.. No clicking over noise, nothing, just dead. Ubered back home, woman phoned like 30 mins later saying it was just a fuse that was loose (which since buying it, that same fuse has come loose once already, knowing the fault, I got that quickly..) I paid them, rode it home(8km/5mi) And it was clear the motor was a bit warm, quite quickly for such a short distance. Rode it once a day, 6.2km/3.8mi for 4 days, then it just didn't want to idle like before, it struggled to take, then when it did, I had to keep the revs up constantly or else it died. Made it to Uni, When I left, to go home, it was harder to keep it going, I had to maintain speed, second would almost stall.. The next day it would start, just a clicking noise by the solonoid, thinking that was the problem, not being much of a motor guy, I replaced it. Didn't solve the problem. Wanting to know how to fix it myself, can someone maby give me a couple of faults or tips on what it may be. (Don't judge me, I bought a kx450 new like 5 years ago, had it for 2 weeks and then it was stolen, so I don't have a lot of money to spend on a motorbike, knowing in South Africa it's not a case of "if", but "when" are the going to steal it, so I might of been reckless in buying it, just wanted something on 2 wheels to mess around with) Any other advise on what other components I should check or replace just to have it running at its best would be appreciated, Kind Regards, Tom
