I was driving my scooter last night was going around 50 mph and it lost power, stalled. it started again drove a little and stalled again. it then wouldnt start battery flat. so i pushed it to my dads and we put the jimp leads on it engine just turned over would start any ideas? i was thinking if the v belt had snapped would this stop it from starting?

    i meant would start with jump leads any ideas engine just cranks over was working ok then died on me the battery went flat so i put the jump leads on but it wouldnt fire up any ideas?

    what is a partial siezure? i will check the plug and fuel to see it has a full tank of fuel and was driving great, has been driving great all week. why would it just stop altogether? when it did stop the battery was dead so i thought it was battery but when tryed jump start it it just turned over but wouldnt fire up. dnt make any sense when its been working fine.

    i have now checked spark plug it sparks ok, i took plug out and put my finger in the hole turn engine over felt a big pudh of air so theres compression, i took pipe off carb and turned engine over fuel came out so fuel getting to carb but still wont start, can this be an electrical fault as it was driving ok then just stopped. where do i start?

    i tested it all last night plug is wet i even cleaned out the carb, so it is still no fireing up. so is the engine knacked?

Snapped v-belt will not stop it from starting only stop it driving.

    Is it a two stroke. if so has it had a partial siezure. can you check for compression in cylinder and spark at the plug. is fuel getting to cylinder ( spark plug getting wet when engine is cranked over )

    Fuel getting to the carb does not prove it is reaching the cylinder to be ignited by the spark. If you crank the engine over, with the spark plug in for a few minutes, is the plug wet with fuel when you take it out.

    Unless the fuel is contaminated in any way you have all that is needed to make it run. Think you will have to book it in at a local bike shop. Ask them to spend up to one hour to diagnose the problem and give you a quote for the full repair. That way you don't get an unexpected big bill.

It can be 3 things: Mechanical, Electrical or Fuel Starvation.

If it's mechanical you should be able to hear somethings not right. If it's electrical, check for blown fuses, check the regulator/rectifier(an easy way is to see if the lights brighten from accelerating the throttle and dimming of lights from decelerating the throttle) and spark plug for fouling(a sooty spark plug will cause a similar issue).
If it's fuel starvation you will have a sudden crokey sound like gurgling coming from the carburettor's on accelerating. A clogged-up air filter can cause power loss too as can a clogged up jet in the carburettor.
It can be many things but mostly the above 3 things. A combustion engine needs clean air and fuel with something to ignite it.
If you are running a 2 stroke I would check to see you haven't run out of 2 stroke oil and that there is enough still mixing with the fuel. Two stroke's give out a distinctive whiff from the exhaust because of the 2 stroke oil used.

94 subaru legacy wagon stalls when engine is warm then starts when cool

Have the battery and alt tested for free at the local parts store.
Tell them what it's doing, and start suspecting a fuel issue.
Could be getting the right amount of fuel but not burning it. (plugs, wires, coil)
Or could not be getting enough fuel.

Still hard to say, so get the charging/power system checked first.
Let me know what you find out as I'm real curious now.

Same happened to a friend and it was the fuel pump....
Same for another friend and it was 2 bad coil packs.

Car tries to stall, going over 50 mph.

you may have a fuel flooding, try to replace your sparkplugs and hi tension wires. if the problem still exists try to replace the fuel filter and fuel pump. try draining your fuel tank too and get rid of the rust and dirt. hope this helps

Battery is good but engine won't turn over

check your conections on your battery/starter and the ground wire...if that dosent help...a battery can read full charge and still be junk you can take it to a gradge and get it load tested..theres a good chance that if your conections are good then the battery is junk
