2008 yz450f wont idle, bogging like crazy, gas in air box

the is few possibilities with this issue but my first thoughts would be leaking intake valves or maybe one has stuck open or they might just be worn out allowing compression to blow back through carbie, My next thoughts would be are all the breather hoses on the carbie clear and free of blockage maybe one has melted from heat or got blocked from mud debree etc?

Check valve clearance or get leak down test done would be my first recommendations.

4 wheeler backfire on start

incorrect air fuel mixture or a leak check for damage to the intake boot or airbox

i need to know more about how its running at low mid and high rpm to help you troubleshoot and you need to check for leaks especiely the intake boot if the intake boot is leaking that will need to be fixed before running the bike asumeing that is ok or fixed run the bike listen to it at idle standing is it surgeing with a good fast acceleration off the line with you siting on the quad ? or just realy rough ticking over with little guts off the line ?

midrange rideing how does it feel is there a bwarrr noise as u accelorate hard or does the engine roar up fast

is it reaching a good top end with good pulling power or poor pulling power

are the backfires constant or mainly whyle slowing down from high revs

if all are effected but there are no leaks then it may be float / fuel level that needs ajustment fuel level in ur float bowel effects all stages of rpm low mid and high

A rich problem gets worse as the engine heats up.

A lean problem gets better as the engine heats up.

hope this helps if u dont fix it your self first try and do them little rpm backfire tests for me itl tell me a lot

Gas leak from carburetor into bottom of air intake elbow. Filled empty gas tank and within seconds after opening the shutoff valve under tank, gas started to drip from bottom of intake elbow. Shut off the...

It sounds like the needle valve in the carburetor is not seating properly to shut off the fuel. A badly worn needle or dirt/debris in the needle seat area can cause this. Disassembly of the carb and a good cleaning will be required.

My bike backfires bad but it idles perfect and the pipe gets real hot fast

Could be you have air leaks in the intake manifold connections causing a lean burn situation, which can cause loud noises from the exhaust, fireing back through the carb/injectors, and the pipe and engine to get extremely ho
with engine running, spray carb cleaner over and around the intake connections. If you hear the engine change tone or smooth out in it's running, you have found the leak. Fix the leak and the other problems could go away. If the bike has been setting for a length of time, your jets and passages could be gummed and needing a cleaning. If there is a possibility of gummed jets, pour 1/4 to 1/2 can of SeaFoam into the gas tank, lock down the front brake and rock the bike back and forth to mix the gas and SeaFoam. Start the bike and run at a high idle for a few minutes. Shut it down and let it cool, then do it again. If it is gummed or dirty jets, they should start to clean up shortly.

During a ride in the Nevada desert, my friend and I both experienced a situation where after parking our bikes, we tried to start them and they were flooded. In fact, they had gas squirting out of the air...

Sounds like you got something in the carbs that got into the float needle and keep it from shutting all the way to stop the fuel from filling the float bowls. And when this happens it has know where to go but up threw the main jet and into the intake and into the combustion chamber which would flood it. And also it would leak back from the carbs and into the air box.
The air cleaner needs to be clean so you wont get dirt into the carbs and also put a inline fuel filter on if the is not one already.

Wr250f 2001.riding bike reved and stopped wont kik properly

if this is a two stroke, then if you have run it out of fuel, there is no lubrication for the piston and you may have damaged the piston or piston rings, check the compression, esay test is remove sprk plug pit your finger hard into the hole and crank the bike over,if your finger gets pushed off with loud crack sound then compression should be ok,but if it doesnt and the preesure is very weak then you will be looking at a top end rebuild, hope this helps

My 04 rmz250 is overheating. It started smoking 3 different times when i took it out the other day. Id let it cool down for a few, continue riding and about 20 minutes later it would start smoking again....

Several things here. Do an oil change, 10w40 motor oil. Run premium gas and install a new NGK spark plug one heat range colder than stock. It sounds like you have an air leak causing a lean fuel mix. Check the carb mount bolts and the intake manifold bolts for tightness. Also set the valve clearances with a cold engine > .002 intake and .003 exhaust. Check for any cylinder head leaks. This would show up as oil on the cooling fins at the base of the cylinder head. Tighten the head bolts if needed.

1991 CR 500 (reving to high on idle high serges)

take some wd 40 & spray around the carb boot while running to see if the idle drops for a few seconds. sounds like you have an intake side air leak causing a lean condition making the motor rev high.
