On the right side of the motorcycle, just behind the engine cover is a crome curved cover. Under the cover is the coolent inlet. The oil level sight glass is under same engine cover. Your exhaust pipe man be blocking your view.

SOURCE: Cant find oil dipstick or spy glass on 03 vulcan 800 classic

on my 1999 vn 800 the site glass is just under the kick stand..you will need some one to hold the bike level while you look at the oil level or stand it next to a wall or something to check the level, they are the same up to the 2005 models..

I hate to sound like a moron, but where is the engine oil fill located on a '97 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500? Every bike I've owned has had a "wingnut" looking cap located in plain view. I can't find one on this...

If you found the drain plug then I'm sure you have found the site glass for the oil on the left hand side of the crank case. Above the sight glass at the top of the crank case is a very large cap that looks like it take s a giant screw driver. Unscrew it and pour oil in.

Yes trans is lubed by the motor oil.
The final drive is like a rearend in a car. Gearlube.

How do I check oil level?

There should be a sight glass at the bottom left side of the motor. Hold the bike level and look at the sight glass. It should be brown to the top of the glass. It's best to check it when the engine is warm also.

Need to tune and change oil on 1996 Kawasaki vulcan 1500

a complete tune up consists of new fuel filter, oil filter, oil, plugs, valve adjust, carb sync and plug wires(optional).. if there is no dipstick, there must be a sight glass on one side of the engine down low. on that model i believe the oil filter is underneath along with the drain plug. there should be (2) 17mm bolts, one for drain plug the other for filter.
