If yours is an Xu series engine, you need to use a torque wrench and an angle dial wrench. Tightening is in 3 stages.

  • Stage 1: Tighten up to 60Nm (44 lb/ft) then fully loosen
  • Stage 2: Tighten up to 20Nm (15lb/ft) change to angle dial wrench
  • Stage 3: Angle tighten to 300 deg.
To avoid confusion, do stage 3 in 3 steps, tighten 100 deg each round and repeating the cycle until 3 rounds.

If you have problem finding the exact torque value given by Citroen, try to measure the bolts size and looks over the net for high tension bolts torque data.
The most importance are the bolts tightening order and gradual torque step and very helpfull if you have torque wrench.
All bolts must be applied the same torque to prevent cylinder head warp..good luck.

I need the torque setting for my citreon 1.8 16v cylinder head petrol

If you buy head gasket the setting will be included. I believe you will torque to a given torque then tighten a further angle (probably 120degrees.)
