The battery and stator. Both needs to be checked and replaced. The stator charges the battery when bike is running. If the battery is old, as per me battery life is approx 2 to 3 years. In your case battery not holding charge. Replace the battery, this should take care of problem. But if problem is same then stator also has to be replaced.-------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

please check your rectrifier. or simply do this to check if there is a short circuit,
turn it off
detach the positve wire on the battery
then put it back again
when the wire touches the positve pole and spark, it has a short circuit
disconnect it and check the wiring

Locate the wires coming out of the motor. There is a plug with three yellow wires, check the three yellow wires coming out of the motor for continuity. Any combination of the three yellow wires should have continuity. But there should be NO continuity between any of the three wires and ground. If any of the yellow wires are grounded you have a bad stator. If the stator checks good you probably have a bad voltage regulator/rectifier.

Hi the tail light can stay on if the ignition is turned past the off position till the park position, this provides a park light .
The lack of starting could be many problems, like a clutch or side stand switch, and the battery may be on the way out. So depending on if the bike is complete, you will need to start with a tune up, service, carb clean and get out the multi meter, to start checking the start system wiring.

Hi, asuming the battery is in good condition and has no dead cells, sounds like you have a charging problem, this could be simply a loose conection caused by corrosion, check the plug at the regulator rectifier, gently pull on the wires at the plug on both ends, look for corrosion, separate the plug and check inside it for corrosion, clean if ness, running a motorcycle with a discharged battery can cause damage to the machines electrical systems, including frying the ecu and stator, under normal conditions a. Battery can last up to 3years, (some may last longer) if in any doubt replace the battery
