The excess fuel is caused by the float levels being out of adjustment. Fix the floats and the dead spot may disappear. If not, pull the slides and then move the jet needle clip down one notch. With due respect, I would put the bike carbs back to stock. :)

Loss of power after the bike heats up

Run a compression check. There may be some damage from lean running. Did it feel unusually hot? Were there any other symptoms? Did it stop running or just get lazy.

Just picked up a 2006 v-star 1100 custom. when the engine is warmed up i am hearing a ticking coming from the front cylinder. the bike has been sitting for awhile and only has 5800 km(3625 miles) on it....

The ticking could be excessive valve clearance but since it's popping on deceleration, it's possible what you hear is an exhaust leak. Check the pipe connections at the cylinder. This is a very common issue - especially because the front pipe has to be removed to change the oil filter, so if the problem began after service it's entirely possible they re-used the exhuast gasket.

I hope this helps.

2007 Yamaha 1300 V Star - Blows black smoke from pipes - pipes are black - cuts out - I replace plugs with exact plugs that came out - put a can of heet in gas tank - dies out if you throttle hard -...

If you have changed the air cleaner intake in any way , or the exhaust system in any way , you probably need to put a Power Commander on the cycle. If you have a Power Commander on the already, you need to hook your motorcycle back up to your computer and try a different map for your CDI box. Fuel injected motorcycles are very precisely made. They do not have the ability to compensate for changes you make to the intake and exhaust. By adding a Power Commander, You get the ability to change the fuel injection/power curve to match the changes made to the stock set up. To fix your bike you have to either put your bike back to stock ,or add (or remap) the Power Commander. If your bike is stock and giving you these issues, take it back to the dealer and have the fuel injection system checked out.

I have a 2006 V-Star Classic. It had 3,600 miles

it sounds like something internal to me but i could be wrong-maybe the loud pipes caused something to vibrate loose-do a real good inspection there are many books in library under 629 that are troubleshoot manuals on internal noises

Carb to much fuel

You said when you trun off the gas valve the bikes engine seems to idle nice and when you turn it on its pumping more gas...well its natural for it to get gas as you turn it on, you may hve to adjust the float of the carburator/s, the float level seems to be wrong allowing more gas in the chamber thn required for optimum function.

2006 road king engine heat

I don't see how oil can cause an overheating problem. I think the service tech was screwing with the fuel/ignition map when the bike was on the dyno. Is it a F.I. engine? Lean mixture or retarded/over advanced timing will cause this, among other things. The dealer may have to eat the cost of repair if you can prove they caused the problem. An air cooled engine that overheats is gonna self destruct!! Get it checked out NOW.

2007 650 yamaha vstar popping through the rear cylinder exhaust

First off did you buy it new? Second has it gone through its break in tune up yet?Did you do the re jeting? My guess is it was re jeted wrong & neeeds to be re jeted again or could also need more air(upgraded air kit) or a tfi or power comand fuel mod.My bike also poped untill I did the air & fuel upgrades & them upgrades will also give you a much needed house power needed for this rig.

Bring it to a shop & have it looked at.......

Good luck

Miles

As long as you keep taking care of it the bike will last a long time . 10 thousand miles in 11 months is a lot of miles .Do you realize you rode more miles in 11 months than most people do in a decade
