when the engine dies pull out the spark plug and earth the plug on the metal part and turn it over dont hold the spark plug as you will get a shock if the plug sparks you know the ignition system is working.if you have no spark do a compresion test to see if there is a problem with the engine.if that ok you will have a fuel problem make sure the breather on the fuel tank isn blocked or trapped.
check condition of air filter.suspect fuel filter if your truck is fuel injected,as filter on some models is mounted below intake manifold,behind starter,difficult to access & often neglected
