Cruse control is for some reason causing the check engine light to go on, and is now disabled ( cruse control ) not working. When the check engine light is off, the curse control works. This happened only one time- ( on _then off ) but is now on all the time.. Have you seen this problem before? can anyone help. Thanks Stu

From what I have read the flashing cruse light is to get you to fix the problem. Any cel will throw the cruse light and cruse will not work. Get your abs checked out and cruse will work again when fixed.
It has it's own fuse and the connector where the cable connects to the throttle body has been known to hop off check to see that it's connected and also pull on it to see thats connected on the cruise unit end.. If the check engine light is on the curise will be disabled by thecomputer. if the cruse has a vacume hose at the break pedal and an electricl switch at the break pedal too they get knockedoff and the vacume hoses at the unit and where they connect ot the engine.
I had the same problem with my 2003 santa fe. Do you have any brake lights out in back? Weird as it is, as soon as I fixed a burned out brake bulb, my cruise worked again. The only relation I can think of is that tapping the breaks causes cruise to turn off - so maybe a broken brake/tail light passes a singal to cruise control from some reason???
