Fuel light stays on evn with full tank of gas

Sounds like the float is sticking open on the carb and its draining. You can try taking the carb off and opening the bottom up and checking for anything that may be creating resistance.

you could possibly have a bad fuel petcock they sometimes work there way out and cause fuel cut off to half the carburetors. The vent tube on tob of the tank can also become blocked. You can check it buy sucking on the tube and making sure you can **** air out of it. You may or may not have inline filters under the tank. If it's a 93 there is no fuel pump.

Well there only one way the fuel can get into the crankcase and that's from the fuel tank. The petcock must be draining and the float needles are not stopping the fuel flow. Do you have a prime position on the petcock? If so do not run the bike in the position. Try topping the tank off with gas and letting it sit for a while and see is the gas has gone down and then check the crankcase and see if there's fuel in it again. i still say its got to be your petcock.

The petrol is coming from the carburettor overflow because it is flooding. This is almost certainly because the float in the carb is stuck down, holding the needle valve that lets the petrol into the carb permanently open. Classic result of the bike being left standing and unused for a while (But by no means the only cause. Dirt in the fuel is also another classic cause of this problem). To fix:

1) Remove the carb from the bike, flip it upside down 2) Unscrew the (usually 4) screws holding the float chamber in place.
3) Clean everything out with clean petrol and, if you have access to one, a high pressure air hose.
4) Reassemble and refit.
5) Pray

Initially, your description of "...off and on it shows me it has the power it should..." is significant as it indicates that it would not be a mechanical / engine problem.

Offhand, almost always, erratic performance and/or intermittent power could be: 1) electrical (least likely), 2) air/fuel mix (likely) and/or 3) carb (most likely).

Interesting though if as you posted, the bike has "...new...carbs...". If it were so, then a possibility to consider is that the carbs need synchronization.

Preliminary checks:

• at cold start, determine which cylinders heat up faster / slower using water spray;
• determine the colors of the burns / tips of the sparkplugs at what cylinder;
• loosen the drain screws of each carb and collect the fuel from the drain hose. Compare the quantity and quality amongst all 4 bowls.
